Their defense is suspect, though. Barely top 100. Basically the same level as Mercer's. The D on jumpshooters will have to be a little better, but I think it's a decent matchup for us. They'll take a lot of 3's, they'll press, they'll defend inbounds plays, and try to force turnovers. If we take care of the ball and defend the perimeter, we'll win. Easier said than done, but I think we match up pretty well.

They shot 50% from 3-point land against Texas, beating them by 13. I am not terribly impressed...including the loss to Michigan, Texas was only 4-6 down the stretch, including a loss to Texas Tech. FWIW, I didn't pick Texas to advance past the this game in any of my 11 brackets. I doubt seriously if they can maintain that shooting against us, that's unusually high for 3-point shooting. Agree with what others say...not much inside game, depend on the outside shooting. They do have a really good point guard..Staukas, who oddly enough is from Ontario. Since when do Canadians play basketball. :laugh: I thought Richardson did a fine job on Hall today, I expect he can handle Staukas. Hall did get loose for some points in the second half though, but I like this match-up. I haven't checked every game, but we seem to have struggled with other teams that have size inside this year and Michigan doesn't have much there. Much slower than Duke, but their strengths (outside scoring, offense generally) and weaknesses (defense) are similar. It'll be interesting to see what the tempo looks like. We're two of the slowest teams in the nation, and their two tournament games have been incredibly slow-- 55 and 57 possessions (average for NCAA basketball is about 67).
