This Vols team works hard and plays hard. They don't know the word quit like we've seen in the past under other coaches. I do believe that this team really should be undefeated at this point and I do believe the reason for the losses to Oklahoma and Florida are due to poor decisions by that coaching staff. They to must learn to close out games just as the players do. I also agree that the Vols should win out and there is no reason for them not too. Next year the Vols will be an even bigger load to handle.

This is one area where I think Butch will prove too stubborn for change. He's hitched himself to his assistants and he isn't going to cut them free. But you're right. Some changes are needed. IMO, Azzani and Mahoney need to go for sure. Maybe DeBord too. I hate to see Azzani leave because he's a valuable recruiter, but his unit just isn't getting the job done.

And I also think our defense could probably be better. Heck, there are some great DCs available for the taking. Does anyone think we couldn't get Gene Chizik from UNC? Derek Mason may very well be available after this season...Charlie Strong could be, too.

During Chavis's time here it was known as 3rd and Chavis, now the Vols have got 4th and Jancek.
Azzani is a very good recruiter but his unit does drop a lot of balls. One of the best postion coaches Tennessee has had was Trooper Taylor. His players produced and I'd bring him back.
Jancek had a rough first year as DC, his second was great. This year its 4th down issues. its way too early to speculate about any real coaching coaching changes.

Bingo...I've noticed during Butch's time here that against teams Tennessee should beat they open up the offense. Against tougher talent he has a tendancy to be very conservative. He also has a tendency to not open things up until its pressure time, witness the South Carolina game last year. Many of us questioned Mike Bajakian's play calling last year, but Bajakian would not have had the sloppy game plan the DeBord did. Face it, if not for two trick plays in the first half it very well could have been only a 3 points for Tennessee at the half.

I don't understand not doing if for Oklahoma, though. I assume the thinking is that by the time the UGA game rolls around that will be a higher-profile game, and without knowing which recruits are scheduled to visit either weekend, that might be a bigger recruiting weekend on campus. But UT-OKLA is going to be a much-watched game.

Heck, if I were in charge, I'd start a tradition of checker-boarding every big game. The UF game last year was one of the most beautiful sights I've ever seen in Neyland.

Clay Travis was on Stinkbaum today.....Pretty much didn't have anything good to say about CUM. He said Saban will tell you he's about winning football games and then he said CUM is fake when he talks that it's more than winning, it's about building good character young men. Then Clay referred to all the felony arrests CUM had at Florida.

I think being thrown into the fire against UF last year just killed any chance he might have had.  A QB only has so many chances to prove himself, and he dug a very deep hole that day.

Good luck to him, and in the future may Butch learn to not take advice from fans on who our QB should be.   

He didnt dig himself any hole. He was not ready for the start against Florida period. When he came in in relief of Worley when he got hurt the play calling wasnt exactly in his favor. You dont take an ice cold QB and start throwing it deep and midrange. That destroyed his confidence. The person at fault is Bajakian. Period.

I know he's certifiable but how is she? I don't recall reading or hearing anything about her doing anything weird or anything, other than her modeling thing and she looked pretty good.

How good are the Vols with Kelly and Love? If they get one or the other does anyone think there's a chance that not does Reid bolt but so does Bussey?  Additionally,  I watched the highlight film on Kamara and I do believe that us Vol fans are in for a treat with this dude. If there is any improvement at all in the offensive line and here is production from the QB spot, Vols offense could be very explosive in 2015.

Saw a twitter post from Vol rumor mill hat said they've heard the rumor about Rocky Reid but didn't elaborate. Has anybody heard anything? Vols only have two verbal on the board and one of the two has already signed. Vols need both backs to sign. Badly!!!!!

Kirkland may be just the beginning.  If just half of the rumors are true, we may be in for a HUGE finish.

That 97 RB class will go down as one of the greatest of all time.  Don't forget we also signed Chris Ramseur in that class, who was a top 100 RB that we ended up moving to LB.

I remember him. He also transferred somewhere else. Like Brian Darden did. If I'm not mistaken Vols staff wanted him to move to DB so he transferred. I had heard or read that he ended up playing DB wherever he transferred to.

He's the only person I've seen or heard of that had anything negative to say about the coaching staff. Sounds like he may be one of those that have had a silver spoon in his mouth his whole life.

Ellis deserves a scholarship hands down. Shouldnt even be a debate about that.
