At the next Nike coaches clinic Stoops, Richt, and Strong will hold a discussion on how to underachieve without really trying. Film at eleven. Film at eleven. Think it's a bit early to say that about Strong. He inherited a pretty crappy team, talented or not. Maybe in another year or two. Maybe in another year or two. It's the U of Texas - best facilities in the land bar none, enough talent to field 4 good to very good D1-A teams within a 300 mile drive from Austin, and fan support as good as anywhere in the free world. There is never an excuse for a losing season in Austin. Do you honestly believe that Charlie Strong has a hope in hell to even win a Big 12 championship, much less a national championship? Apples and bananas. If not, in the third year, because I think Texas is a bit worse than what Shula left at bammer. But we will see. Regardless of what happens, you can't judge a new coach taking over a beat down program after one season. That's completely irrational. But football fans ARE highly irrational, so.... |
