It's not schedule-adjusted, which makes it tough to tell much. But I think progress is clear in a lot of areas, particularly special teams. We were absolutely dominant in special teams and the one weakness this year-- placekicking-- wasn't as bad as most think it was. Medley was 20/26 from inside 50 yards.

I don't know who gets most of the credit for special teams success but Butch absolutely deserves some of it. He has clearly emphasized it and makes a point of putting great athletes on those teams. That's what Frank Beamer always did in the years VT was so dominant in that phase of the game.

Actually one of the surprising things for me is that we are weak in punt return coverage.  Id say that's weaker than place kicking particularly given the end of season improvement in that.
