Knoxville. I was just 21 years old.  We went a couple of times. Had a great time both visits. I didn't realize or recall it being the bummer afterwards mentioned here. Was it?

Met my wife a week before the fair opened.  We had a lot of early dates going to the fair.

And we were engaged before it ended in October, married the next March.

Best decision of my life.

Nice post. Hope you are doing well. And you are surely right about it being your best decision.

I was barely out of diapers in 1982, and all of you are older than dirt.

Also, for however desolate the World's Fair Site might have been in 1984, it has been transitioned into the most beautiful place in Knoxville.

The area is doing just fine now. I went to the Sunsphere a few years ago, in fact.  We moved to Knoxville the month the Fair opened, which was kind of a nightmare.  Made it hard to go anywhere for a while with all the increase in traffic, but it slacked off in the summer a bit.  My parents might have just been using the Fair as an excuse not to take us kids places sometimes.
