As it stands now, our recruiting board is like a deli counter and we are just calling the next number from the wheel. Getting the team on the field for spring practice can't get here quick enough to allow HC Heupel the opportunity to show the plan for his offense and recruits to see what he has been talking about.

Disagree completely This recruitment is NOT done Stay in the game Show results on the field and we are back in the game I guarantee others aren't backing of our commitments
We don't have any 2022 commitments for other teams to come after. I just see Heupel being hired on 1/27. Then on 1/31 Simpson scheduled his announcement in February. According to the Chad Simmons interview with him yesterday, he stated that he made his mind up on 2/1 to choose Alabama. Being the in-state school looks to be the only reason we had a hat on the table, and that is not enough in my mind.

We are an easy team to defend with no real offensive threat from the 4 or 5 position. Given where we are, I may think about putting James at the 4 and move Pons over to the 5 position with Springer, Johnson, and Bailey.

Other than being a instate kid not upset with this....We will be fine on the QB front. Still bet Heupel recruits him....10 long months to signing day.
I hope we back away completely. Like a friend of mine said, QB recruiting is like dating high maintenance women --- if you mess around with many you could likely end up with none. Here is to focusing on Horn, Tayven Jackson, and Braden Davis.

UCF 2020 RPO Rate: 10th Tennessee 2020 RPO Rate: 104th
UCF 2020 Deep Pass Rate: 11th Tennessee 2020 Deep Pass Rate: 27th (WTF)
UCF 2020 Screen Rate: 27th Tennessee 2020 Screen Rate: 119th
UCF 2020 Play Action Rate: 4th Tennessee 2020 Play Action Rate: 62nd
I think that Hyatt and Beckwith should EXCEL in this offense Hyatt has the speed and quickness that this offense needs Beckwith can create mismatches all over the field, especially in the RPO game
Agreed. This team will definitely be more offensive going forward with Heupel at the helm. He will spread the defense out horizontally forcing teams like Alabama and Georgia to get LBs off the field or be placed in a mis-match. Look forward to seeing opposing DC's to actually have to work because in the past all they needed was their offense to put around 21 points on the scoreboard and they could coast the rest of the game. Don't think that will be the case now.

Only 1 SEC team put up 500+ yards of offense in a single game last year, so quit making it sound like this is a common occurrence. And to help you from having to look, your team in Tuscaloosa was not that team.
Now see if this helps. UCF averaged 568 yards/game in 2020. If Heupel's offense was throttled back by 75% due to SEC defenses, it would still out perform what our offense has achieved from a yardage output perspective over the past 4 seasons.
Nobody is expecting 500+ yards/game with Heupel's offense, but we can see an opportunity to move the ball and put points on the scoreboard with this hire. So pull back on then hyperbole and check your data when throwing numbers around.

I saw that Martinez was his secondary coach when he played at CMU. I bet he brings him on the staff.

Have we actually fired Steele yet? I have heard a lot of bellyaching over his buyout, but I never heard confirmation that he was let go - not that I have been paying real close attention. However, does hiring Garner perhaps mean we are keeping Steele???
I saw somewhere that he has not been in the office due to an illness he had to attend to in his family. Will be interested to see if he part of this staff going forward and if so what role.

Also, you would think this Godfrey guy would have investigated in some fashion. Just further proof the only entrance requirement to the media these days is some form of a grammar certification and a twitter handle.

I saw a post on one site either today or yesterday asking the question why the Norvell hire to FSU was deemed to be fabulous by the super smart media while the Heupel hire by UT was not. Same concept except Heupel actually had experience coaching in the SEC. The main reason for this I came to was the fact UT rejected the media selected Schiano hire so everything going forward is therefore trash.
Who knows.

I definitely prefer Elliott. AD White talked about integrity and trust in his coach which is much needed today and I think Elliott delivers in these areas. They have a relationship while AD White was at UCF, they supposedly talked Friday night after his hire, and VQ is speculating another meeting between the two will be tomorrow. Sure people will say he has no HC experience but 3 of the 4 last hires did have this HC experience and they all failed. I say sign him up, let him hire his staff, deal with the current team/portal, and start recruiting the 2022 class.
