It was nice to get a close, ugly win for a change.  Don't get me wrong, I will take a win, but we made so many dang bonehead mistakes.  That fumble in the 4th was just incredible.  Even though KY's offense is terrible, it was still a great D effort for the Vols.  Finally showed off some great conditioning - what a surge late in the 4th by a defense that had been on the field all day long.

Their offense is one dimensional but it ain't terrible. 300+ rushing yards. Possessed the ball 40+ minutes

yes, they execute the run very well, but they have zero passing game.  They are not good enuff to be one dimensional and win.  Terrible in respect to being only half an offense.

Something about us playing at KY it seems to always be a ugly 1970's Big 10 type games. Not long ago I watched some throwback UT-KY games in Lexington and it was when we had Peyton and talent out the wazoo and those games were butt ugly. Hard to explain.

Having lived in KY nearly 30 years... it is their biggest rivalry. They want that one more than any other. Maybe that is part of it.

You live in East or Western KY? I grew up in Western KY.

I was thinking the same dang thing last nite.  I recalled watching a 10-0 win back in the 80s.  We had a pretty good team that year and shoulda killed 'em.  I can still remember watching the game in the den with the fire going and it being pretty dang cold outside.  I also recall Alan Duncan kicking a game winner late in the game in the 70s. and we were all in the van driving from Memphis to Grandma's house at Watts Bar Lake - listening to the game on the radio.  I think my dad had to pull off the road there at the end :-)

The one that sticks out to me is the 95 game, where Billy Jack Haskins damn near beat us all by himself.

We had planned a ski trip to Tahoe, but it quickly became a gambling trip after we arrived to almost no snow. I watched that game in the Horizon sports book drinking free casino booze and getting angrier, drunker, louder, and more profane by the minute.

"Who the F is Billy Jack MF'ing Haskins, and why is he kicking our F'ing ass?" may have come out of my mouth a time or 50.
