Should be a boost for secondary. That will let Prentiss stay at CB. That will give us 2 hard hitting safeties which should help us out against the run, not to mention the wr's who will have their heads on a swivel when they go across the middle.

With Janzen back, we can play a 4-2-5 all the time with Brewer playing the rover / hybrid position... Waggner, Teague, Gordon, Brewer, Janzen, Byron Moore. Considering our weakness at LB, that's a HUGE help.
We need Mo Couch to be bigtime at DT. If he is, we are going to be a lot better than advertised.

Good points. If we can just slow down the run game we will be miles ahead of last year. Our offense should be good enough that people can't just play keep away from us for a half waiting for us wear down. If we can put points on the board it will make them have to play us honest.
For the last two years people have not felt threatened by us offensively and it was reflected in their game plans.

I honestly don't think that's going to be an issue this year, like you say. I think our offense is going to be stout. Bray is going to drive us crazy at times with picks because he's a gunslinger, but we are going to stretch the field and make big plays. I think teams will have to play to score on offense and take risks. I don't have us winning 10 games or anything and I know I'm a homer, but I think we are underrated for the first time in a while. I get the feeling that Wilcox is going to run the 4-2-5 a lot and blitz a lot out of it.

If we are really lucky one of ends will turn it on this year and take more than one person to block him.
I think our season hinges on the Cincinnati game odd as that may sound. If we lose it will likely be a long year. If we win convincingly we may hit my imposed ceiling of 8-4. If we just barely win it will similar to last year.
I think our offense has "potential" to be very good but our young wr's have to step up and play great. If they don't it will make it tough.

Alright, I wasn't going to say anything, because I didn't want to jinx us. But since you already have , I'll also add that we haven't had any serious off-field issues this summer, either, for the first time in, oh, ever.

I think obiously the key to how "stout" our offense is will be the O-line. Doesn't matter how much of a big play gunslinger Bray is if he's running for his life and if we can't get 1st downs running the ball.

I refuse to believe that the OL is going to be anything less than beastly. I am in full homer mode regarding the OL.

Not just pure 100% hope and blind bravado I hope -- you really think it's realistic? Hope so! A great OL is the ENGINE that pulls the rest of the team. But I believe it'll be awhile before we see those days again.

But I believe it'll be awhile before we see those days again. I disagree. We've loaded up on quality and quantity along the OL in the past two classes. I think this line will be very good this year, and one of the nation's best (and deepest) by 2012.

Agreed, Dooley and Co. has done well to build quality and depth there.. we saw what the bunch of youngsters did last year. They didn't maul anyone really but they held their own. Looking for them to build on that, which I think they will.

But I believe it'll be awhile before we see those days again. We are two+ deep with quality young players. Don't underestimate the arrival and NCAA clearance of Alex Bullard, and the signing of Tiny Richardson. Throw them into the mix with Stone, Fulton, and James and you've got the cornerstone of a football team. This is where the return of UT football begins... the offensive line. The defensive line needs to be built up still, but the most important thing in football is the offensive line. You must run the ball and you must protect the passer. Everything else in the game keys off it. If you have a great offensive line you can keep the ball away from the other offense. You can wear opposing defenses down for the fourth quarter. You stay on the field with great OLs. Our greatest teams have had great OL and that time is coming. I think they will be really good this year. 2012 and 2013, barring injury and attrition, are going to be a return to GREAT OLs. No doubt in my mind.

It would be wonderful and infuse the whole team with a level of confidence they have not had in years. I can just see it now.......we are up 3 with 4 min to go. The opposing team punts to us with 3 timeouts left playing for a stop and punt with little time elapsing. We run it every play, grinding out 3 first downs and chewing up the clock then take a knee for the win. Did I mention that game sends us to the SECCG?! Too much to hope for this year but a fan can dream, because that is what fans do.

This video is one of my favorites. I love that we didn't even attempt to throw the ball.
