So, we get no respect because we aren't a preseason top 25 team? Using what reason and rational thinking could an argument be made for our being ranked?
You've got to be kidding me. This is a team that won 5 games last year.
Here's what I posted at another forum in response to somebody who thought we should be ranked:
So, we started 3 different QBs last year, and really don't have a number one guy right now. And as the old saying goes, if you are playing more than one QB you really don't have a QB.
Our vaunted and underachieving OL from last year is all gone.
Our defensive line is all gone.
Our secondary is less than dependable.
Our running back hopes are invested in a true freshman who, although very talented and has a ton of potential, is coming off of major shoulder surgery.
Our receivers are very talented, but very young and we don't have a QB who is proved enough that we know he can get the ball to them.
The strength of our defense is 2 linebackers. Otherwise, we really don't have anybody who one could say is going to have a good to great year by their past play at this point.
Our defense is going to be counting on a ton of true and RS freshmen and sophomores.
Our best player last year was arguably our kicker/punter, who is now an Oakland Raider.
Our schedule is brutal.
We play in the SEC, and aren't even in the upper half of the SEC on the field yet.
Yeah, we ought to be a top 25 team.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that MTV was being sarcastic.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that MTV was being sarcastic. You just never know these days. There are so many delusional UT fans out there right now. Glad to know that our friend from Middle Tennessee isn't one of them.

So, you are saying there is a chance?

So, you are saying there is a chance? The one good thing about the pre-season is that no matter where a team actually is, hope springs eternal. There is ALWAYS a chance. But in this case, I am just hoping we can somehow win more games than we did last year, because in this case that truly would be progress.

LOL trust me midtnvol has no fantasy of a preseason T-25 volunteer squad this year. He is as realistic as they come. We'll be back there eventually. Idk about you all but I got a good laugh out of it. Rodney Dangerfield "i can't get no respect"
