Not because we lost. I expected that. In fact I had already accepted the fact that this year would suck. What shocks and depresses me is this: We have absolutely no big play makers. If we do, they haven't shown it yet.

Even considering what happened to UT with the coaching changes (and the coaches themselves), I'm still amazed at how little talent we really have.

If Butch can get anything out of this group this year, it will be a great job. Otherwise there's no way to really judge how the coaching staff is doing because of how little they have to work with.

In the meantime, we'll have to slog though a difficult season. And drink more wine.

And maybe a difficult season or two after that....

There were some bright spots here and there.  If Peterman hadn't completely sucked, we were in this game the whole way IMO, though of course there is no way to know for sure of course. So who is to say that down the road uga  or the cocks or even bammer doesn't turn the ball over a few times and keep us in another tough one?

Beyond the three games we all expect to lose, Auburn is looking pretty bad right now, and I think the second half version of our team - which was moving the ball pretty well at the end BTW, can definitely take the likes of Missouri and Vandy.

If this team holds together and keeps working they can end the season an an optimistic note...maybe the first one since...shizzle I don't know.  Maybe the fact that we made a bowl game in Dooley's first year?   But then look how the bowl game went.  Kiffin's first year ended under a bit of a cloud with the stupid Pilot fiasco and the blowout in the bowl game even before he skipped town.  2008...shudder.   2007...we lost in the SECC and won the bowl game, and even though we backed into the SECC it was a up note to end the season after the way we started.  So I'll count that.

It's been that long since I felt genuinely good about UT football and the path it was on.  No matter what happened last week and today, Butch can definitely still change that this season.
