Is Omaha in the cards? I guess it always is if the ball bounces your way. Let's hope it does?
Not likely. Not enough offense and outside of a couple of guys, the pitching staff has just been too inconsistent. Plus the status of Garrett Crochet is still up in the air. He had surgery to repair a broken jaw on Saturday. Word is they are trying to see if he can pitch with a protective mask, but that's just an iffy proposition.
Right now UT is projected as a 3 seed in either the Greeneville, NC or Raleigh regions. The host team has huge advantages in a regional.
Right now projections:
Greenville:
1. ECU
2. Duke
3. UT
4. Winthrop
Raleigh:
1. NCSU
2. WbygawdVA
3. UT
4. Campbell Fightin' Camels
I'd take the Greenville region and run with it if I had my choice, but either way it's going to be tough to come out of a region with a 3 seed.
And on WVA, they have 2 junior starters who have sub 2.00 ERAs and average over a stikeout and a half per inning. One is a right hander who is projected to go by the 10 pick in the first round of the draft in a couple of weeks, and the other a projected round 5-7 pick. It's a pick your poison thing there om the first game.
