Sooo, I envision the following.
1) UK offered Petrino
2) Petrino's agent asked AU if they wanted to bid
3) AU said "wait"
4) Petrino said he wanted a real offer which could only come from a school without a coach
5) AU canned Chizik

Not doubting you, but where are you seeing this?  It isn't on the ESPN SEC Blog, which you would think Lowe would have an article on.  Also, I can't find any media source in Alabama claiming this?

He's not out.  There was an article that came out on auburnundercover.com.  The article can be found here: http://www.mrsec.com/.  The wording makes you think, though, that at the end of the season, Chizik will be out of a job. Nothing is official, but if our esteemed President does not deny this within 24 hours, I think it is a done deal.

word of mouth. I have two colleagues who are Auburn fans and they told me yesterday that the decision was made. Not sure if he is out officially yet.

I don't think Auburn will wind up with Petrino. I saw something that said BP is interested in the Kentucky job

Petrino would take AU job over UK if offered. Most people would.
