It's a judgment call, and the official misjudged terribly, as CO said. To take the points off under the definition of taunting is horse manure.
That may be the single worst call I've seen in college football this year. (Well, the officials refusing to give Stanford a touchdown against Notre Dame even after review probably tops it . . .)
