On Monday (12th) my Mom is having a knee replacement and my cousin is having a heart valve replaced -- then on Friday (16th), Dean is having the remaining melanoma cancer removed from his face -- they will leave the wound open for 5-7 days until they get the pathology report back to ensure they got all the cancer...then either sew him up or remove more if needed.

The good news is that the chance of his cancer having spread is well below 10% and they are not doing the lymph node biopsy.  The pathology report after this next procedure will tell us if the biopsy was right as to the thickness of the cancer.  If they find it's thicker in this next procedure, then the chances of it having spread go up and they will probably do radiation/lymph node removal, etc etc.   But we have 3 opinions and they all agree that this is the route to take.

All in all, next week is going to be a long long week...so any thoughts and prayers coming to my family from you guys would be appreciated!  Prayers are going up from me for TRO -- hope he does well!

You got them Becky!
Dean came up in conversation this last weekend and I had meant to drop you a not asking his status.
A friend just went through a similar procedure.  He was fortunate that A) they received the pathology report within an hour or so and B) no further digging was required.  The bad was it took a long time for the wound to heal.

They are telling us with melanoma, it takes several days to get the pathology report back...they can't check it immediately like they can with basil cell or other types.   Thanks for the prayers!

Honey, you need some excitement in your life!

Sheesh!!! Do you need anything? Help with anything? You are riding on the Vol Navy pleasure boat of service when you need it, you hear?

All you guys are in my prayers. Keep Momma drugged; it'll do a world of good for the both of you.

Had that spot on my face cut off this morning. The dermatologist said she didn't think it was cancerous and we could leave it alone and watch it. Then, she said she could remove it and biopsy the thing. (Uh, let me see......... cut the ugly, reddish-brown nodule off or leave it on my left cheek for the rest of the world to enjoy along with me? Hmmmmmm; what a tough decision!). Heck, it was an oncologist who sent me there!!!

Get drunk this weekend and enjoy the game. It might be a while before the opportunity arises again. Call if you need anything, Hon.
