His backup, Corey Vereen, is having an MRI today. Hopefully it's not serious, as he was showing signs of being a very good pass rusher.

People have to step up.

scarce on talent to begin with and at some point it becomes "who do we have that we can plug in at this position" and when a team, which is not very talented or deep to begin with, has to resort to playing people in new positions....well, it ain't good. We've had years of scarce talent, new coaches, new schemes and I had hoped for no "new problems" for this team and staff to allow confidence to develop and familiarity with positions and schemes. Let's pray, well I know you don't but you can take it as "good thoughts", for an injury free year.

Thankfully defensive line is one of the places we could absorb an injury or two, but I really, really hope that Vereen's knee thing is minor. Smith may be back as soon as the opener.

I'm sure they'll take precaution with the fractured thumb and keep him out of contact, but if push comes to shove, he can play with the fracture.

Smith will be back by WKU game. Don't really need him for AP

Hope Vereen's issue isn't serious.

Bummer. Others can step up. Not great depth, but enough for now. Need Vereen.
