Yep...He gone after 6-4 in a Covid SEC season. Auburn fans saying total buyouts with Gus and staff around 21 million.

I look for Freeze to be on their short list.

They do go with the sleaze factor as their preferred path, see BP as an example ...

they also mentioned some things that happened this year on the telecast
I suspect he had lost control and that is almost a such as the totally disfunctional offense

Plus as of Friday Auburn's current recruiting class was ranked ahead of only USC and Vandy in the SEC.

I'll give Auburn credit - they don't screw around when it comes time to jettison a coach.  We'll be looking at sloppy seconds next year when we decide it is time.

My thoughts exactly.

Rarely is a coach fired when there wasn't a lengthy runup to the actual firing. Why schools scramble at this point is beyond me. There should be everything but a verbal when the trigger is pulled.

Firing should signal the end of a search, not the beginning.

Good point! Do it before Saban or Smart does it.

As long as we have a lame duck HC, we're not going to get any quality assistants unless we give them a HUGE buyout. Who's going to want to come to Knoxville for a year, only be job hunting again when their boss inevitably gets canned next season?

As I read on another site.....Give him a lifetime contract and what HC we hired down the road wouldn't want Garner on the staff.....If he's smart.

I think Freeze is near the top of the AU list.  Who knows, maybe they pulled the trigger partly to get Freeze.

As for Garner, would love to have him back, but he hasn't done much for AU this year.

Word out there is that Mario Cristobal is the top choice, but Oregon as made him an increased offer to stay.  Have a feeling he is Gundying Auburn.
