Title: Florida Post by: 10EC on May 25, 2022, 04:09:21 EDT Was starting to think about next season. It seems to me that the Florida game is an outright we have to win that game. They are not a good football team right now and we need to pass them to gain any national respect.
Lose that game and the season sucks imo. Thoughts? Title: Re: Florida Post by: VinnieVOL on May 26, 2022, 04:01:48 EDT If we don’t get them this year, a lot of Heupel’s momentum will take a hit. I know I’ll feel like the season is lost.

I agree. Fulmer finally conquered Spurrier in the swamp, and then shizzle the bed. Won a couple others, I know, but still... there is really no excuse for the Florida won/loss sitch since Meyer left. Incredible! :dunno: Title: Re: Florida Post by: BanditVol on June 05, 2022, 05:25:40 EDT Its a must win this year. Period, dot.
Title: Re: Florida Post by: Tnphil on June 05, 2022, 09:15:57 EDT So many losses we had equal or better team than FL. Butch should have been 4-1 against FL minimum......It's a mental thing. Florida knows they are playing Tennessee and they know they are going to win....UT knows they are playing Florida and are expected to lose.
How many times have you watched Florida play their first 2 game of the season and look like crap winning both games....Then look like a well oiled machine against UT only to look like crap against a KY....UGA...etc? And how many times have you/we said this is our year to beat Florida and turn the tide only to see us look like the Keystone Cops and make every mistake in the book and most games decided in the early 3rd quarter? It's mental and until that changes we will see more of the same no matter how good or bad Florida's coaching is.....They are always going to have good athletes. I wouldn't put a plug nickle on UT winning against FL right now....We'll see what Heupel can do. Title: Re: Florida Post by: SmokeyJoe on June 06, 2022, 06:57:37 EDT A "plug nickel"... haven't heard that since my Dad passed, and that was a while ago. Old school cool  :powert:
Title: Re: Florida Post by: Volznut on June 06, 2022, 06:08:58 EDT No excuses, need to win this year. We should be better than them and it's at home

I wouldn't put a plug nickle on UT winning against FL right now....We'll see what Heupel can do. I'm not saying I think we will win, I am saying we should. Or more to the point, I am not saying "this is the year we beat them" as you say, as if it's some magical moment. What I am saying is two things. 1. History aside, on paper we are better than them this year and should win. 2. For program building purposes, it's absolutely essential we beat them this year. Heupel simply can't continue this upward trajectory without beating what is, on paper, one of the weakest Florida teams since they got good in the 80s. Mostly the emphasis is on two. Another way of saying it "if we can't beat them this year, when can we". Again, history aside, there is no excuse to not beat them this year. As for the history and the mental mindset of our players, that can be overcome. We will see if it is. |
