Title: Surround question now. Found a Post by: Inspector Vol on August 10, 2012, 11:04:52 EDT 7.1 with good reviews for a decent price. Lots of wattage. I was only going to have 5 speakers so can I hook that up on a 7.1 with no issues?

Smaller speakers might leave a gap between your midrange and bass, unless you set the crossover very high, which would stress the sub. Title: Re: Surround question now. It is a feature found in most receivers and Blu-ray players, that will convert standard-def DVDs up to 1080p. If you have a lot of DVDs you want to keep, it's a good feature to have. But you shouldn't have to go out of your way to look for it, as it's found in nearly all blu-rays these days. Title: Re: Surround question now. Basically it is where you are playing a DVD or some other 480P source (regular TV) and the player converts the video into a "fake" 1080P or 1080I picture...basically it is adding in information that is not there based on the line above or below the one that is scanning....it is a method to fill in data that works very well and makes the picture look very good..... Since you are going Polk all the way around, I'd probably go with the Polk TSi CS20 or something similar. Crutchfield has it for $170. Technically you are still only hooking up 5 speakers... plus a sub. In the "5.1" the sub is the .1. |
