Packing the car today. Cleaning the house. Leaving for Myrtle Beach Saturday morning for 6 days. Be in South Carolina about 11:00 AM. Even retired, I look forward to resting at the beach. Hot tubs, swimming pool, lazy river, sand, the ocean, and, of course, cold beer and broiled seafood.
This is by far the best time to go to Myrtle Beach. There are no crowds, the rates at hotels/condos are low, the eateries runs specials competing for what few people are there, and you can pretty much get whatever tee time you want just about anywhere on the Grand Strand. We've gone in late September/early October for the past 5 years or so, but we aren't going to be able to get away this year. With my son, DIL, and grandson in Texas now that is where our available get away time will be spent for a while.
There are a couple of eateries we really like in Murrell's Inlet, by the way, and they do have some good broiled seafood. The Inlet Crab House has awesome grouper (and they play Radio Margaritaville 24/7, which makes me happy) and Creek Ratz, right down the road from the Crab House. Creek Ratz is a really laid back place, too, and they always have good live entertainment in the evenings.
Both have a good selection of domestic and craft beers, too.
