who can get us an out or 3 over the next few weeks. I?ve always thought this team was an arm or two short to win it all, but if we can count on guys like Loy and Phillips that may not be the case.
 Unfortunately it doesn?t look like AJ Russell is ready for prime time. If we get up big on someone in the regional next weekend maybe they can keep getting him some work. But probably not beyond that. The farther you go, the less important bullpen depth becomes. |

There is no reason to exhaust a pitching staff for a tourney that does not matter. L$U went through at nine (9) pitchers yesterday (at least 7 through significant number of pitches and so should not be available today)The VOLS used two (2) Zander going six innings was huge and Phillips being able to complete the game saved arms, as well as Tony and Frank showing him their confidence in him should help him going forward Loy was ready in the barn and may get the start for his usual 2 innings today (he has been the Tuesday starter and usually went 2) I think today will be a lot like a Tuesday game pitching wise We are in good shape for today and the regionals FWIW, I think we sealed the #1 seed in the NCAA yesterday (I think we were going to be #1 but getting to the finals cemented it - today, like the basketball SEC finals, doesn't mean squat from the NCAA perspective) |
