JT gets one (1) series each half and gets benched for JG
Oh, Palmer had a step the entire play and JG underthrows at least 5 yards

Could it possibly be that they are thinking of a redshirt? I hope not. Hopefully they just gave him an extra week of no contact. We need him the rest of the way, I'm afraid.

JG isn't very good when healthy and he has a freaking broken hand! He's a tough kid, just not a good QB imo.

Maurer can't redshirt. He's played in 5 games.

Straight up, who was more effective vs South Carolina?  JG hands down.  And Shrout didn't look so hot to me tonight.  JG has a lot of baggage, but tonight and particularly last week he played well.

JT didn't have a chance tonight IMO.  In the first series, 2 stuffed runs left a 3rd and long.  Then he's benched for JG, who did NOT have a good game.  In the 3rd the ill advised pass into double coverage might have been the cause but I think  the plan was always to play JG after the 1st series, judging by how the players warmed up and handled the change.

I don't think that JG played that good last night. As usual with him I saw quite a few late reads and passes that were behind receivers. I know that he has a broken hand, but this stuff didn't start this week.

He's tough as leather, but he's just not a very good QB.

The staff must feel that he's the best option that they had. I'll trust them. After all, what else can we do?

Last night pretty much told me that Maurer isn't ready (will he be going forward?) and the staff just doesn't trust Shrout right now. Shrout loves to show off his arm and does so a lot into double and triple coverage and the staff didn't want turnovers last night letting UAB hang around. Thus we were playing a QB with a bad hand.

Yup.  JG may suck, but still wins over Shrout in the short run.  And it worked, so...

I always judge our players to the competitions. Which SECe teams do we have better QB's than? You decide. Which SECw QB's do we have better than? You decide. Talk amongst yourselves. Then look at our record. Are we over or underachieving?  I know what my answer is. Don't forget..it is a QB driven game today. Bama and UGa have had better QB's leave than we have had start for us in a long time. Do you see any of our current stable of QB's beating any of the best SEC teams, our biggest rivals, anytime soon? I don't think the QB that beats these teams has arrived to Knoxville yet. Do you?

QB is very important, but to get to Bama/LSU level we need across the board talent upgrades at skill positions. The OL and DL are starting to come around.

Yes they are, and I give Pruitt and company enormous credit for that, considering how shizzlety the OL was last year and that the entire DL was replaced this year.

I will say this though, Brandon Kennedy has played really well for us, and he was probably under the radar for most fans last season, but I know who he was.  Transferred from bammer, was in the two deep there and even started a few games, you know he had to be pretty good.  He was injured the first game of the season and then later in the season Trey Smith had to take medical leave, and those were IMO by far our two best OL.

Even accounting for that, this season is like night and day on the lines.  And that's great.

Hope Kennedy gets a medical for last season and a 6th year. Got a feeling he can get one.....if he wants one. He might head to the draft.

Considering the talent differences, the Vols have played well against our toughest opponents. I have been impressed with Pruitt as of late.

Yeah me too.  If he and Trey both stay, our line will be one of the best in the SEC.
