Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: Tnphil on May 24, 2021, 10:13:58 EDT Yep....I said a year and half ago when the NCAA was going to OK the 1 time transfer rule that it will become free agency and coaches would start recruiting players already at other schools. The NCAA has created a monster and they don't care.
Also I see a lot of schools will start signing 17-19 high school recruits and hold the other spots for transfers that's been in a college program 2-3 years. Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: HerbTarlekVol on May 24, 2021, 10:16:28 EDT Pretty much like high school football in the Knoxville area. As Uncle Ted said, it's a free for all.
Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: volsboy on May 25, 2021, 12:41:09 EDT Transfers are going crazy. It is especially crazy all the trans in-conference. It's going to be hard to tell who has who until the first roster is released. Hope the Vols can land some good ones.
Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: JeffCountyVolFan on May 25, 2021, 03:08:27 EDT The college game is surely going to change. I think that much is inevitable.
I'm not optimistic that this will improve the experience, especially for the older fans among us. I can remember a time when I could list the starters for every major league baseball and basketball team. Now, i don't even watch MLB or the NFL. I can remember a time when I could list the starters for every major league baseball and basketball team. Now, i don't even watch MLB or the NFL. I also remember when I could name the stadium for every pro sports team. Now, they’re all named after a corporate sponsor and the name changes every 4-5 years when the contract is up. :frown: Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: wtkvol on May 27, 2021, 10:01:05 EDT The college game is surely going to change. For me personally, free agency ruined pro sports. I understand the business aspect and the players' position in the free agency issue but I just don't like the system it creates. Title: Re: College football recruiting looking like the Wild Wild West Post by: BanditVol on May 27, 2021, 08:18:45 EDT Not trying to get this relegated to PolitVol, but Obama gave verbal support to college players getting paid, and IMO this contributed greatly to the emasculation of the NCAA, which was not all that manly to begin with.
Just my 0.02, but it's not just Obama, plenty of Congressweazels have piled on. NCAA presidents are inherently political, in fact many of them literaly ARE polititicians. The wind blows, they blow with it. |
