I'm not drinking the kool aid, but I can definitely talk myself into liking the hire enough to see positives. It would've taken me a few days to get there a few weeks ago. I will give him a chance based off gratitude alone.
As it stands I think things worked out OK. No matter what the media thinks, it was time for Tennessee fans to stand up and hold the Athletic Department accountable. Vol Nation spends too much money, time, effort, and emotion to watch Haslem and his idiocy while he plays puppetmaster. Whether you like Fulmer or don't, I believe he hired the available candidate that he thinks gives us the best chance to win so we'll see what happens.
I agree with all of this

I accept the hire. It's not like I have a choice.
But as I said yesterday, I refuse to "like" anything until I see some on-field results. And even if those results are acceptable, I worry that he'll bolt for our biggest rival when the time comes.
Pruitt's our coach. I don't want to see him fail. But so much about this gives me pause.
If he's successful and he builds UT up, the fans will get behind him and treat him well, his family will settle in. I see your concerns, but I think he *could* stick around for a while regardless of other vacancies. If he flounders and bolts, well, it might be good for everyone to part ways

I'm pleased with Pruitt, he knows defense inside and out and is one of the best recruiter in CFB. All he has to do is take an acid shower and scrub with brillo pads to get that disgusting dark red off of him, and take a sh!tload of medication before he steps foot in the state

So why was he fired at So Cal? Most I know think he's a great coordinator but not HC material.
I don't know, I'm not a USC fan, nor a follower I come back to ... what's so impressive about 7-6? Nothing.
Considering what the team did the year before, it's very impressive Close losses? No such thing as a moral victory! Dooley had many close losses in 2012. Butch had three this year, for that matter, and numerous ones throughout his career at UT.
Make sure to throw out some boos to the team when they play well above the expectations and lose a close game to, say, Bama. No moral victories and such.........

Sometimes I wonder if Butch read message boards to gauge the fans wants and wishes on who plays, starts, ect. I remember that a lot of people favored Hurd over Kamara, but I think that had a lot to do with seeing a lot more from Hurd because he was the one on the field. As soon as Hurd left, bam, Kamara tore it up

We will have to agree to disagree. I blame the UCLA, Auburn and Bama losses squarely on him, and the blowout sat Ole Miss and in the bowl games were inexcusable. The team defintely improved from the previous year, but at the end of the day I think Fulmer could have gone 7-6 that year, and maybe even better. Would Fulmer have ever beaten Saban or Urban? We will never know, but I'd like to think so. Kiffin also didn't impress me that much at So Cal or even bammer. What I will say is that he is the best post-Fulmer coach so far. Problem is, that ain't saying much. I'd say that you're an outlier, because most any vol fan will begrudgingly admit that Kiffin is one hell of a coach

He already has another job worked out somewhere out West (Oregon State?)
I bet he does, but it would be an absolute hoot if the trip he took yesterday wasn't to talk to Leach, but instead to interview for a job.....

I think Kiffin is a better coach. Brohm may be as well. I don't think Leach will ever win the SEC, but I also don't think we'll be swept by Bama, UF, and UGA much.
Given our present situation I think he's a good hire.
he could be a failure, or he could be brilliant, it all depends on the OC & DC he brings in

Anyone find it odd that until Sunday everything was tight lipped and since Sunday every potential candidate from A-Z has been out in the public? I think there is a whole lot of BS going around. IMO things will start moving after championship weekend coming up and I also think what happens at FSU will start more moves if Jimbo leaves. I see us most likely going the Cord. route because if not we will get the slim pickings of HC's that are left.
I find that weird too, also, I still haven't see anything about Brohm turning it down. Follow the link, a trip was made to Los Angeles too...... https://historical.fltplan.com/index.html?tailnumber=n111ut&username=PILOT&zoomto=1298BC4rt&remotecode=6487P
