I'm trying to negotiate a settlement for a client on an old credit card account. I called them and they said have the client call and authorize Capital One to talk to me. He called and then I called. They said the authorization couldn't be done that way but that I would have to fax a written request. So I did, then I called them again. They then said that the client would have to call with the authorization. I told them that we already did that and was told that wasn't the way to do it. So they say fax it. I told them I already did that. They say it has to have a 5 point verification including date of birth, etc. So I did that and called them again. They say that it takes up to a week for that to be processed and call back then. I said, "Lady I'm trying to pay you some money and you don't want to take it!" That did not have any affect on the hourly schlub to whom I was talking.

Patience is not one of my characteristics.

And I hate big banks.
