You are probably correct. But remember what Ricky Foggie said. Ricky was a star QB at Laurens High (SC) and signed with Lou Holtz and U. of Minnesota. After spending a few days in the Minnesota winter he said that if he had known how cold it was there he might have gone somewhere else. 

I think Lou Holtz' QB on the 1988 National Champion Notre Dame team,Tony Rice,came from South Carolina
