4576  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Do you remember the UT-Bama feelings on: October 21, 2017, 05:08:43 EDT
You had over the years.....It was what was talked about the week or weeks leading up to the game.....It was the 3rd Saturday in October. Remember the knot in the stomach because the outcome of this game, win or lose would stay with you for 12 months. Remember the feeling of walking into Neyland or Legions Field in Birmingham or that hell hole town in Tuscaloosa.

I remember those feelings and DAMN I miss them.
4577  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I've given up on Butch but firing a coach during the season is a disgrace. on: October 21, 2017, 05:24:56 EDT
I still don't believe he'll be fired until after the season....Won't be shocked if it happens but I think a lot of this fired next week or the next is board fodder.
4578  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: 77 years ago on this date.......... on: October 21, 2017, 04:00:34 EDT
I use to drink coffee at the local café with a fine gentleman that played on those teams. He died over 20 years ago and he could tell some stories.
4579  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Mizzou is the only thing standing between us and 0-8 in the SEC on: October 20, 2017, 02:39:55 EDT
I think Gurantano showed some potential against junior. Particularly on the last drive. Muschamp D always good. I guess we will see.

I think Gitmo will improve.....but on that last drive USC was only rushing 3. He had all day to find someone open.
4580  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Ugh. If you think you know something... on: October 19, 2017, 09:59:50 EDT
Funny how all these 'Inside Sources' only come out during coaching searches.....Didn't see 1 inside source tell us what QB was going to start the first game of the season however.
4581  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Mizzou is the only thing standing between us and 0-8 in the SEC on: October 19, 2017, 05:40:49 EDT
Unless our offense has a miracle intervention I don't see us outscoring KY or Mizzou. Yes their defenses aren't good but both of their offenses are better than us. Hope it changes.
4582  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: What is wrong with Vol sports? Seems like we are down in all of them. on: October 19, 2017, 02:15:25 EDT
LouisVol for the win.
4583  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Well it's official. Jones is a good coach. He said the Vols struggles are not a on: October 18, 2017, 02:08:06 EDT
Jones is too scared of failure to put his offensive skill players in a position to succeed until forced to when behind. If you do not call plays that allow the QB to throw the ball more than 10 yards downfield when the defense is crowding the line, how can you expect to win. How can you expect to win when OL blocking is non-existent? OL either gets overpowered or outrun by smaller players or just overpowered. Yes is is scheme when you do not call a play or adjust if your WRs do not catch the ball. Execution is a problem when the coaching staff fails abysmally to train the team on how to win. If the player you select to be on the field does not perform, it is the failure of the coach. You selected to sign him. You coached him through the week. You praise him about "such a good week in practice". Then he goes out on Saturday and looks lost. It is coaching, not execution.

Spot on 73Volgrad......Has it been odd to anyone else that in our 3 bowl games under Butch that our offense goes ball out? We see plays we didn't see all season....we see formations, play calls, letting athletes be athletes and we wonder where has that been? The the next season we are back to running between the tackles and throwing 3 yard outs!  It appears in bowl games Butch knows there is no tomorrow so lets let it all hang out but when there is a tomorrow you couldn't drive a 10 penny nail up Butch's ass.
4584  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I have no inside info, but I'll go out on a limb and say our next coach will be on: October 17, 2017, 05:51:05 EDT
Petrino offense without Petrino baggage.   Our days of not throwing the ball down the field would definitely end.   I love Brohm,  he will make someone a great coach,  but I would much prefer we go for a defensive guru,  maybe Schiano or Venables.   As Petrino found out when Grantham left,  putting up big numbers won't win games when the other team is doing the same.   Easier to hire an innovative,  exciting OC than a lockdown DC.   Other than Urban,  the current top coaches built a defense first.

^Exactly! Give me defense!
4585  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: What about....... on: October 17, 2017, 03:43:25 EDT
Here's another thought.  I think both Brohm of Purdue and Justin Wilcox of Cal might be great candidates, but each is in his respective first year.  So if we have to bring in Cut, he stays 3 years max and we take whichever of those two does better.  Just a thought.

Don't think Wilcox will ever come back East....He's a West coast guy to the hilt. First chance he got to head back to the left coast he bolted.
4586  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: UT opens as a 34 point dog again Bammer on: October 16, 2017, 06:27:31 EDT
Apparently they failed to consider that we just had the best two years in the last twenty,  and  thoroughly discounted our resolve and resiliency.   I have only two words for the oddsmakers,  Leadership Reps.

But Butch did tell the odds makers that 60% of our team has never been to Tuscaloosa, AL.
4587  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: UT opens as a 34 point dog again Bammer on: October 16, 2017, 05:09:37 EDT
We're currently at 10+ quarters without a TD.  Do I hear 14?

I'm seriously thinking about not even watching on TV.  And it's not like I have anything better to do that day.  I'll probably be watching some other game, in fact.  Someone convince me why I shouldn't.

"Someone convince me why I shouldn't."

Wish I could but I have nothing

4588  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: 8:36 AM. Has Butch been fired yet?* on: October 16, 2017, 03:59:06 EDT
No.  Butch left Cincinnati just as Davenport was arriving.

Makes me feel better.....Thought maybe one had dirt on the other.
4589  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: UT opens as a 34 point dog again Bammer on: October 16, 2017, 03:58:01 EDT
Saw this score prediction on TOS.

UA 63
UT 52 Yards

In year 5.
4591  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Ok, I'm a believer. SMH.... on: October 16, 2017, 12:54:47 EDT
I really couldn't care less what anyone in that family has to say.  As flawed as our offense may be, it sure didn't seem to slow Alvin Kamara down last year.  You know, the guy who is an early NFL Rookie of the Year frontrunner while Jalen is riding the pine and pouting in the football backwater that is Waco, TX.  In fact, with the benefit of hindsight, it's pretty clear now that Butch's biggest mistake on the offensive side last year was not starting Kamara and benching Hurd sooner.

But I wish Jalen well at Baylor.  Maybe they'll actually win a game next year.  Not that any of the Hurds actually care about such team goals.

^Black Diamond with the walk off.
4592  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: 8:36 AM. Has Butch been fired yet?* on: October 16, 2017, 12:33:24 EDT
Was she at Cincinnati the same time Botch was?
4593  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: When we finally score a TD (assuming it even happens again this year) on: October 16, 2017, 12:30:30 EDT
What is the over/under on scoring any points at Alabama? Being a 35 point dog to the Tide is too low IMO. If we cross mid-field on their first team, I will be astonished.

Vey well could be 35 by the half.
4594  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: 8:36 AM. Has Butch been fired yet?* on: October 15, 2017, 04:40:00 EDT
I have a very good inside source that told me point blank that Botch Jones will not be the UT coach in 2025. No questions please!

4595  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: When we finally score a TD (assuming it even happens again this year) on: October 15, 2017, 04:55:59 EDT
New UT student cheer:

2 4 6 8....please score a TD before we graduate!!!
4596  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Cultural Fit on: October 15, 2017, 03:43:41 EDT
I lived on a aircraft carrier with 4,000 other guys making less than minimum wage working 15 hour days......At 4 million a year my ass could live anywhere.
4597  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: SC now has a streak on UT. Let that sink in on: October 15, 2017, 12:44:33 EDT
He's 6-0 against UT.
4598  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Well, there's this... on: October 14, 2017, 11:51:35 EDT
LOL.....he's late with the nail in the coffin. That fate had already been sealed. Remains to be seen when the plug is pulled however.
4599  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Game Report (Butch has checked out version) on: October 14, 2017, 11:47:33 EDT
Scott has never met a 1st down he didn't like to run it between the tackles.......OL is worse than last year....we thought it was Mahoney, NOPE it's Botch's scheme. Do we have WR's that can beat a NAIA defense? The defense is good for about 3 series....after that they are done. Allowed USC to have their best rushing game of the season when it was said all week in the media that USC was a bad rushing team and our DBs can't cover a bed with a blanket.

I've seen UT teams that were bad on D but good on O.....and the other way around. We are bad on both sides and don't see it getting any better. I see 1 or 2 more wins.
4600  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Mizzou is the only thing standing between us and 0-8 in the SEC on: October 14, 2017, 10:37:26 EDT
We will not outscore Mizzou. Don't see it.

1 or 2 more wins is all I see right now.
