They remind me very much of us, circa 2008.  They think this downturn is just a minor blip on the radar.  They want a coaching change, and seem to think that that will cure all their ills.  And they're probably right.  I mean, despite their troubles, they have recruited the lights out lately; the cupboard is hardly bare. And I don't see the FL talent base drying up any time soon.

OTOH, anyone they hire will face tougher circumstances than any incoming UF coach ever has.  Not only is the SEC a monster right now, but both of their big in-state rivals are currently riding high as well.  I'm not sure even Spurrier or Meyer could succeed in a big way if they were starting fresh at UF today.

Clearly, Muschamp isn't the answer (but I hope they give him more time anyway).  But if they decide to replace him, they had better be very careful in making their choice.  That job isn't just "plug and play" like it used to be.

I'm hoping they get to ride the pain train for another decade or three.  But unlike us, they have the in-state talent base to prevent that from happening, unless they keep making bad hires.

I always thought that was a mostly unacknowledged factor in Urban's success...that they did not have to compete with Miami and FSU for instate talent.

It was a HUGE factor.  Not only that, but the SEC wasn't nearly this tough when he took the job.  And as soon as it DID get tough, he bailed.

It's refreshing. Things can't go your way forever, and tge Gators are more proof.

Remember their arrogance a few years ago? Remember how some said at the time that their ship would eventually sink, too? I don't guess anyone imagined it would sink so fast.

I am absolutely loving it. And thanking my lucky stars we didn't get Muschamp, who most of us were hoping we would get.

I'm enjoying it, but I'd be enjoying it a lot more if we were on top.  It says a lot that they have arguably their worst coach ever, and we haven't beaten him once in three tries.

Absolutely.  And I remember their arrogance like it was yesterday.
