I’m usually not someone to clamor for the backup QB, but if JG struggles against BYU like he struggled against GaSt, I wouldn’t mind seeing Maurer. Not gonna happen because it appears the staff wants to redshirt him, and I don’t hold out great hope of him being a better option...he would’ve shown it in practice, I think. But sometimes it doesn’t hurt to shake things up a bit. I heard Pruitt say the offense wasn’t the problem against GaSt...well, I guess technically the O played well enough to win, but playing good enough to beat GaSt’s D isn’t something worth writing home about. Aside from those 2 TD droves in the first half, the O only looked good in spurts and couldn’t finish drives.
Wouldn't read anything into this but it was said yesterday in practice that J.T. Shrout got 3 times the reps that Maurer did and 2 times the reps Gitmo did. Would be interesting if that was the same today? JG will start but I wonder what kind of leash he'll be on?
