The guys at the golf course today, who are mostly tiglet and Gamecock fans, were talking about how great the Vols looked last night. On the other hand, Vols fans, especially on VTTW, were happy and encouraged, but reserved.

What that means, I don't know. But I found it interesting.

Perception is a hell of a drug. Got a few laughs reading one of the threads posted during the game http://www.statefansnationforums.com/topic.php?id=8095&page=8.

Several NC State fans seemed to have no idea who they were playing. Some of the NC State fans seemed to think they were gonna be playing UT Martin. Apparently unrealistic expectations were set.

We got some props from bama fans last night as a matter of fact. But lets face it they have not followed this team like us.

That's because Vol fans have spent the past decade waiting for the other shoe to drop.  It always does, and it's always a size 19 combat boot.

No matter how good we look, there's always some misfortune just waiting to befall this program.  Be it a key injury or 12, a suspension, horrible officiating that costs us a game, or a coach that bolts in the face of an NCAA investigation and leaves us holding the bag, it's always something.  And it's coming.  Soon.  Probably before we play UF.

Maybe Day-Rick's departure was the other shoe.

When Bray's td was taken away at the end of the first half, I thought "uh-huh, here we go."

I love reading threads like that where opposing fans go from cocky to nervous to pissed to defeated. I also love the predictable "well that team shouldn't be happy... We suck so bad... They should be up more... Their conference will rape them" posts.

It is a very entertaining read. Even if it is predictable. I knew it was gonna be fun when one of them predicted a 42-3 win. It was that point when I realized they had no clue who they were about to play.

They may well.  I think they lost a bit more from their D than their fans realized.  I still think they are a pretty good team though, and we should feel good about beating them the way we did.

I'm not sure Tenn would be very good in the ACC.
