Title: Game Thread: UGA Post by: murfvol on October 02, 2021, 04:08:53 EDT I'm headed to the hinterlands momentarily and will miss the game. GBO!
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 04:11:14 EDT Today is my first game (one of only two planned) not in the stadium
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: murfvol on October 02, 2021, 04:44:13 EDT That's quite good. I'm in Utah for a preexisting event.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 05:15:36 EDT You must be in Utah for a while. We don’t play UGA for like 6 weeks.

True Fr should have had the pick But a good sign Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:10:12 EDT NICE pass, right in stride, over the top for a TD!
Better pass than the 75 yard TD last week to Payton and off play action Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:23:50 EDT MVP of that defensive series was the yellow hanky
Got to tighten up that zone coverage Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 06:29:01 EDT Great start!
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:32:56 EDT They are going FAST!
Mizzou SUCKS against the run Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 06:38:02 EDT I would say the Mizzou run D is butter, but that would be an insult to butter.
More like melted butter. :naughty: Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 06:39:32 EDT 92 yards!
What's our longest run ever? Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 06:40:41 EDT We might be scoring too quickly. With this third TD the offense has only been on the field for a little over 2 minutes. The defense has been on the field for about 10 minutes. :wow:
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 06:44:54 EDT 92 yards! What's our longest run ever? Kelsey Finch’s 99-yard run at Florida on Oct. 22, 1977. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 06:48:05 EDT Kelsey Finch’s 99-yard run at Florida on Oct. 22, 1977. Well there you go. Can't say that I remember that one. Didn't Gray have a 90+ yarder at Vandy last year? Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 06:51:54 EDT So the annoucner says "Banks is running like a running back". Yeah. Because, you know, he was. :naughty:
I know SECN announcers suck in general, and that we are getting the D or E team, but come on. Can't they do a LITTLE research? Whatever it was pretty funny. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 06:52:23 EDT Well there you go. Can't say that I remember that one. Didn't Gray have a 90+ yarder at Vandy last year? Gray's run is the second longest. 94 yards. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:52:31 EDT Kelsey Finch’s 99-yard run at Florida on Oct. 22, 1977. I wonder if we can get it in? :rotfl: Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:54:22 EDT Our 4 offensive drives have been for about 3:30
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 06:57:03 EDT Interesting stat: Tennessee has average 2 points per play in the 1st :wow:
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: volsboy on October 02, 2021, 07:00:12 EDT Kelsey Finch’s 99-yard run at Florida on Oct. 22, 1977. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: PirateVOL on October 02, 2021, 07:01:21 EDT The first two TDs by Evans, he was UNTOUCHED
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:03:06 EDT Interesting stat: Tennessee has average 2 points per play in the 1st :wow:  That seems sustainable. We're going full Jack Pardee today. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 07:09:13 EDT Definitely a time to "put on more steam". Lots of time left in this one.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:09:32 EDT D is getting tired. Maybe going under center and taking our time on this possession wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 07:13:56 EDT D is getting tired. Maybe going under center and taking our time on this possession wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Too late. 3rd and 12 and we get a touchdown. I guess if we score every time we can outlast them  Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 07:15:08 EDT Too late. 3rd and 12 and we get a touchdown. I guess if we score every time we can outlast them  :dielaughing: Its like watching a practice with most of the skill players wearing green jerseys Love it. Vols have needed this for a long time. A LOOONNNNGGGG time. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:16:17 EDT It's almost like their defense is pissed at their coaches for some reason and decided to tank it today out of protest. That's how it looks. :dunno:
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:29:02 EDT Reminder that there are two teams out there that Mizzou actually beat. :inughout:
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 07:32:36 EDT I don't mind that ruling at all.
Now we can run more clock. :dielaughing: Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 07:33:05 EDT Like I said. Just score every time and there's nothing to worry about.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:34:05 EDT That was a TD the first time. Not that it matters. The long review gave our D some extra rest anyway.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: JeffCountyVolFan on October 02, 2021, 07:35:42 EDT Before that drive we had 5 TDs and 1 first down, I think.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:37:20 EDT Hooker is 7/8 today, and the one miss came on an obvious uncalled hold on a deep route that probably would've gone for a TD.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: volsboy on October 02, 2021, 07:48:44 EDT I just can't get my head around the SEC having teams as bad as Vandy and Mizzou. You would think they could get "some" talent recruiting wise. Pathetic. But these things go in cycles. The "haves" are getting most all the talent. The "have nots" are getting worse year by year.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 07:50:00 EDT No TD on that drive. Fire everybody.

You would think they could get "some" talent recruiting wise. Pathetic. But these things go in cycles. The "haves" are getting most all the talent. The "have nots" are getting worse year by year. It's more than just those two. Kentucky almost lost to CHATTANOOGA at home! Probably would have without a really bad noncall PI that led to a Kentucky pick 6. Auburn just barely survived GSU, and there was a bad call in that game also. The top 2-3 in the SEC are very good, and the next couple can hold their own, but there are some bad teams also. SEC has never been a top to bottom conference, or rarely is. It's always the top teams that make it dominant. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 07:55:08 EDT No TD on that drive. Fire everybody. Our kicker has been shaky. Things are not well on the Plains Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 08:05:49 EDT Time of possession:
Missouri: 18.09 Tennessee: 11:51 The biggest chunk of that for UT came in the last drive. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: tshadow on October 02, 2021, 08:15:11 EDT If you just looked at Mizzou's yardage you'd think they were doing pretty well... That yardage is typical for a half. I guess we have a QB now?
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 08:15:39 EDT We are winning the penalty battle also. Mizzou has like 8, I don't think we have a single one yet. This is a big improvement for Vols, we have had way too many, particularly against gators last week.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 08:22:46 EDT Another good rep for our kicker
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 08:24:53 EDT Well, we can get more rest for our defense.
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 08:25:48 EDT There is a good chance you see Auburn start to slide quickly as well Things are not well on the Plains I did say Auburn might be worse than advertised. I agree things may go farther south down there. The caveat is that let's see what their new QB does against his former team. I think Nix was a huge part of the Auburn issues not only this season but the last two. I watched the highlights of the GSU game, Nix just flat out suxed. Looked like JG at his worst (well almost his worst). Auburn settled for 4 FGs in the first half that should have been at least two TDs had Nix not missed wide open WRs in the end zone. Think they will be much better with TJ going forward, but we will see. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 08:26:30 EDT shizzle. Special teams have been a bright spot. No excuse for that!
But at least our offense can run more clock and rest the D, right? Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: droner on October 02, 2021, 08:35:54 EDT 3rd and 18. No problem. Touchdown! :hi5:
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: Black Diamond Vol on October 02, 2021, 08:39:58 EDT "I'm sad". :dielaughing:

A lot of people have been down on Hooker, but I think he's a gamer. We are probably fortuante to have him at this point. Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 09:14:12 EDT So does Milton get some reps now?
Title: Re: Game Thread: UGA Post by: BanditVol on October 02, 2021, 09:22:31 EDT I'll take some icing on that cake. :naughty:

We are probably fortuante to have him at this point. I don't get the criticism, honestly. He's not a Heisman candidate by any stretch of the imagination, but he can be a serviceable QB. He looked very sharp today. It helps that he wasn't having to worry about getting hit, but still... Hooker is plenty good enough to get us to a bowl game, which is the goal for this season. He does well enough, particularly running the ball, but I like his attitude and vibe. This guy trying to win, not playing scared. We have had way too much of playing scared the last 3-4 years. |
