I love it when they torture these guys. And this Open will be the toughest of them all. The stories about Oakmont are legendary.

I've said for years that to make a course harder you don't have to make them longer.....make hitting fairways a premium. If you miss the fairway then be in 4-5 inches of rough.....make being in a bunker a punishment, the way bunkers are here players would rather be in a greenside bunker than greenside rough. Make the greens hard and fast...as in brick hard where the best players in the world can't throw darts at pins. Make it where the best up and down players make the cut and the one that aren't go home on Friday afternoon.

Courses here for some reason over the years decided having a plush, green, soft course was the thing. The course I belong to has done the same thing....can't play a round without them fertilizing the greens, fairways and pouring water to the whole course.
