That's exactly what I'm hoping. If we have a good QB we could make some noise next year like we haven't experienced in a long time.          

 

I've seen much improvement, everywhere but QB and that's due to the lack of talent available when Pruitt took over. JT is just not a good college QB. He decides pre-snap where is going with the ball and generally he does even if he has to force a throw in to double/triple coverage. We had backs standing wide open 7 yds beyond the LOS which is supposed to be his check down receiver if the WRs are covered and yet he threw time and time again to well covered WRs. Finally in the 4th quarter he dumped it off to the RB a few times (I suspect only because it was a called play). Hopefully we will have a better QB next year and we can field a team that can dominate some teams. With what we RS'd and recruited this year, our DL should be fearsome....just think how aggressive we can be on D if our O can score and sustain drives. I think Pruitt is going to get us back in the top third or so of the SEC barring anything crazy.                      

    

Yep. I kept telling everyone during the "Pruitt is in over his head" panic that we had a great staff and that when he inherited a team that had to be taught "how to practice" it was insane to expect SECC caliber team in 1 yr. I tried to encourage patience with the expectation that the team would be much better by mid-season. It will take 2 more good classes to achieve the depth of talent we need to be consistently competing with the top echelon.          

You have only to look at the records of some ahead of him to understand they know not of what they speak.....I mean Lou Holtz?!?!?!

Butch left him the only UT team to go winless in the SEC.....that's what I'd call shizzlety and you ain't turning that around in one year.         

AMEN Crockett ! I was telling my dentist yesterday (he's a UT grad) to calm down and remember that Pruitt inherited the only team in UT history to go winless in the SEC and he's had one year to work with that team and one hastily thrown together recruiting class and one planned class. He needs 2 more years at least to be able to show what kind of coach he will be.         

Agreed. He inherited the worst team in UT history (i.e. ZERO SEC wins) and he's had 1 year to work with them and 1 recruiting class that he was able to select and target with purpose. He has so much youth that it's insane and needs at least 2 seasons to really right this ship. We are here because of knee-jerk and/or belated actions, we have to stop or we will be in a perpetual spin out!         

Fulmer underachieved every year after winning the NC! Heck he couldn't consistently beat Spurrier and now we have a ton of great coaches in the conference....he'd be a complete disaster. Like I said, Pruitt inherited a VERY bad team, first SEC winless team EVER! Give him 2 more years and let's see if he's a coach or not....if we continue jettisoning coaches every 2-3 years we'll never have a good team again.

Good grief I hope not! Fulmer was fired because his W-L record was like a roller coaster and that was with him being the HC for 16 yrs. Everyone is forgetting that Pruitt has been here for a little over a year and took over a VERY BAD TEAM. If Fulmer takes over we deserve the inevitable laughing stock status that we will achieve because no coach will ever want to come here and attempt to fix things and trust me, Fulmer ain't going to do any better and then what?          

IIRC they have a young OL and QB, D is still very good supposedly. IMO it depends on, once again, our OL play (mainly they have to be able to establish a run consistent game) and how effective our DL and LBs starters are and how competent are the depth providers. We have very good skill players on O and in the DB but the rest is to be determined.           

Do to the dearth of in-state talent....gotta go where they be!
