Title: Game Report
Post by: PirateVOL on November 11, 2012, 01:24:35 EST
Normally these are the unvarnished comments but here we go

Offense
QB: Bray was a little off at times today, not seeing the field well at times.  At other times he was the Bray of the last two games
RB:  Neal is the better runner, period, dot.  There can be no discussion.  That said, Lane did ok, just that he doesn't Finnish runs as good as Neal does.  Once Lane flat stopped in the hole, before he was hit.  Overall we ran reasonably well.
OL:  too many false starts and James with a takedown for a holding penalty.  Overall did a reasonable good job against  a good DL.
Coaching:  well called game except for the 4th quarter where we pulled a Fulmer and sat on a lead.  Cost us in the end.

Defense
DL: got decent pressure even with only three rushers.  After early problems containment wasn't too bad.  We used the Jack and or the Will as the DE
LB:  Maggitt's injury really hurt.  He was the spy and he was calling the defense.  He also played well.  AJ played well but after Maggitt was hurt he was calling the defense and we seemed slower to change formations.  Bohannon replaced Maggitt and in my eyes was ineffective.  Lather played maybe three plays.
DBs:  tale of two haves.  First half we actually covered well and played more press, especially on the back side.  In the 2nd half that was usually Coleman, who backed off ten yards prior to the snap.  Toney played the slot on the two receiver side and Gordon on the three receiver side.  Often, the SS was responsible for the 3rd re ever but he was 25 yards off the ball.  Of the two nickel backs Toney played far better.  Moore had his usual game.  McNeil didn't play late in the 4th and the OTs.
Coaching:  we mostly played a 3-2-6 with occasional 3-3-5.  First half we mostly played straight up but in the 2nd half we were again changing formations late and the results speak for themselves.  We were out coached at half time and in the 2nd half.  Also in the first half we played a 3 deep formation that seemed to confuse Franklin.  Don't recall seeing that formation in the 2nd half.  We usually lined up 4 across with 2 deep.
HC:  not wasting my time commenting.
