As for apparel, it is good, but I don't see much difference between them, Reebok and Adidas in performance stuff. Yet they are priced like Nike. An UA hoodie was a good $15-$20 more than a North Face one, and I always thought NF was the expensive stuff.

Under Armour is to apparel as Apple is to personal computing...its hipness allows it to be severely overpriced. I don't buy a lot of it for that very reason, but I've always been very pleased with any UA gear I've owned. For cold weather gear I actually prefer Columbia to Northface or UA. It isn't hardly as good as either of the others, but IMO the price of Northface jackets make cannot be justified by the performance of the product. Columbia makes excellent fleeces, but I do own two pair of NF shoes and they are some of the best I've owned. Hey yeah! 1) Clearance is indeed a wonderful time to get stuff. 2) BPS is crazy expensive. 3) My UA shorts and t-shirts have held up well, but not neccessarily better than other gear. I know nothing about UA shoes. 4) Cabela's and LL Bean's non-name brand stuff is great. It's all coming from the same plant in Lesotho or Bangladesh anyway. Really. 5) Dollar General has cheap breathable shirts that work quite well...and they are on clearance about this time of year.
