I'm no more confident that a Fulmer as interim/permanent AD and Bev Davenport are going to get it any more right than Currie did.

The entire UT administration is one big cluster fizzle.

But that's who's there, and keeping Currie around does not improve what we have. Sometimes people have to recognize the positive stages in fixing things that are so fizzleed up as the UTAD, even if there is still a lot more cleanup to be done.

I though you already went into casual fan mode?

Anyway, great to hear from you.  Come back more often.

There are levels of casual fan mode, and I think my post made it pretty obvious what the difference was when I typed it

So because they fired him, you automatically stop blaming him and call him a scapegoat? Based on what? McMurphy and Feldman, who had stories AT  THE READY to go after Phil? Who in the world do you think gave them that?

The media has spent all week trying to blame the fans. Don't let them rope you into painting Currie as a fall guy. He went rogue on Sunday and it cost him his ass. Not a single one of you would've accepted Leach last Sunday. An incompetent Athletic Director and Department couldn't do their job correctly and the current president and chancellor are powerless to fix it. More power to a Tennessee man stepping up and doing something from Tennessee. Nobody else seems to care.

I had a long post planned, in a style I miss using and that some of you would recognize... bemoaning the fate of our beloved  ... but man it sounded so goddam arrogant and whiny, I just couldn't put you all through it. This one is long, but I'll chill on the prose.

I hope you are all well. For those of you who aren't friends with me on Facebook, there are flecks of gray in my hair and my oldest daughter drives an SUV and will be enrolling at APSU next fall. My youngest is a freshman in HS. My wife is gorgeous and I'm getting old while working too hard. Still fat. Not as fat as I used to be. Always working on it. Time marches, man.

I can't even really talk about the Vols other than to say they may have finally broken this fanatic down to casual fan status. Who would've ever thought that was possible? But the Schiano episode broke something in me. The fact that the fans had to revolt to suppress that and give the entire university a black eye is unforgiveable. A Doeren type hire will finish off the break for me and force me to casual status, I'm sad to say.

Some of you might have remembered that this coming spring will mark 20 years since the formation of the original VTTW. I had a chuckle today when I remembered that 10 years ago, we had the board anniversary party at UT Mom & Pop's lake house. I distinctly remember telling Clockwork "Man, if we can't beat UCLA, we have major problems." Well, we didn't, and we did, and Phil got fired. And to think I thought that was rock bottom.

I don't visit here very much anymore... I think maybe 10 times in 5 years? Trust me... it's not you... it's definitely me. But, this board remains important to me because the 10 year run that we had before Phil left marks some of the best memories in my life. The board was a big part of that for me and gave me a sense of importance and purpose at a time in my life where I had little. I'll keep popping in from time to time, but with the turmoil on the hill, it may not be for a while. I won't ever stop lovin' them Vols, though.

Go Big F uckin' Orange, y'all.

What is the RGB color code for UT orange?

I honestly don't know without looking it up but the pantone is 151

I'm anti orange anyway until Butch wins something important or gets his cliches out of my face by going somewhere else.

Well aren't you in a dandy mood. Bama lost to a team in national champ that had an average recruiting ranking of about 12 in 4 years preceding this year. Denial of this is either stupid, or ignorant. Not sure which 😎

Their first 22 -35 players are really good. Put them in the sec and they don't make it out alive due to depth. Not surprised you missed the point.

Using Clemson and 90s Nebraska and Washington as examples of why recruiting stars aren't important is either ignorant or stupid... Not sure which. Put any of those teams except 95 Nebraska in our league and they don't go to the playoff. Forget national class rankings and focus on conference rankings.

Also mentioning Nebraska as part of this argument is dumb as hell since the star system didn't evolve until the mid 90s.

Seeing what's plainly in front of one's face is not being the LOM. Butch sucks, thumbs his nose at the fan base, recruited like shizzle this year, and has tiny feet.

20 years?    OMG!  I'm coming up on my 45th in 2017!   You are just a baby!
Creek / BOM was like 12 when we posted on UTVols.com

In March I was have retired as long as I was in the USAF
We will NOT speak of HS reunions ...

Mrs. ReVOLver and I have been together for 24 years and married for 20. Much more than half our lives.
41  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I was thinking this morning on: June 02, 2016, 04:24:31 EDT
Isn't it funny how much more quickly time moves as we get older? My 20-year high school reunion is next year. 20 years!! It seems like yesterday I was walking across the stage with my diploma in my hand. And when that same amount of time elapses again, I'll be pushing 60. That is simultaneously scary and depressing.

I remember well when we all left the old utvols.com site and headed over here. Boy, I thought I knew it all back then.

Our 20 year was 3 years ago. We were all a lot more fun at 38 than we were at 18. I suspect 25 will not be the same.
42  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I was thinking this morning on: June 02, 2016, 04:23:38 EDT
Wow...can't believe it was 8 years ago. That means I had a 2 year old and a newborn at that party, and made the trip down from MI. I now have a 10, 8 and 6 year old, and can do that trip in about 25 minutes or so.

Wow... you're getting old!!
43  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I was thinking this morning on: June 02, 2016, 04:23:13 EDT
that was a fun day
And you are correct in that to doesn't seem that long ago and for sure a lot of things have changed for a lot of the regs

Time marches on

Thinking. Always a dangerous thing to do without proper supervision.

My wife always supervises me.

This board has been on the SMF platform riding solo for about as long as it was on the Mudduck. Chew on that for a minute.
46  Sports / VTTW Message Board / I was thinking this morning on: June 01, 2016, 04:56:41 EDT
About when we had VTTW's 10th anniversary party at the lake with TRO's family. It struck me that the 10 years between the board inception and that party seemed like forever (to me). But the 8 years between that party and now have been a blink of an eye.
47  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Our season opener has been moved to Thursday night, 9/1... on: May 20, 2016, 11:46:17 EDT
This sucks. I only have definite plans to come to Appy State and Mizzou, though I will probably make my way up for UF and Bammer and will definitely be at Vandy... but Appy State was the game I was going to bring the kids to. That's not happening now unless we stay the whole weekend or something.

Will be old enough to vote and join the service sometime this summer. The date of origin eludes me but it was started in the summer of 1998. Hope you are all well. GBO

He stepped on the T, was called out by Croom, took issue with the correction and "leadership" was applied

There were several other factors, that Herb was alluding to but in the end reality did not match the dream.  It happens.

Hockey is a more exciting sport than nfl football
