Hopefully he still has that same recruiting touch that he had 25 years ago.

I believe he does
HE can flat coach the DL
Maybe gets Big Kat back into the fold as well

I also think this informs who the DC will be
Suspect we will know tomorrow

Have we actually fired Steele yet?  I have heard a lot of bellyaching over his buyout, but I never heard confirmation that he was let go - not that I have been paying real close attention.  However, does hiring Garner perhaps mean we are keeping Steele???

I saw somewhere that he has not been in the office due to an illness he had to attend to in his family. Will be interested to see if he part of this staff going forward and if so what role.

Based on a (rumor) by a so called (insider) on VN....Steele and Heupel aren't on speaking terms?

Not sure I believe it but posters there seem to latch on to this posters word.

IT's obvious that Steel is not Heuple's choice and would not be the DC
I suspect that the only reason he has not been kicked out of the complex is that they are waiting for the new DC to be ID'd and hired and then possibly offer him a position as an assistant (to avoid paying the $900K)
I think they should sue the former AD to have HIM pay the $900K out of his funds

Agree on the former AD paying his buyout.....But with things going down at that moment you'd assume someone had to OK Fulmer hiring him during a hiring freeze? If so...Who and Why?

There are a LOT of things I do not understand about this entire process.
I do think that Pruitt was set up by a person or persons unknown.  He made a LOT of enemies and his temper was ultimately his undoing IMO

On a side note, I think part of the issue with Tee was that he did not understand the difference between the AD/HC and the Administration
Pruitt designated Tee as the acting HC in a Covid situation and he expected that to extend to when Pruitt was fired but the Administration thought otherwise (and I agree with them), especially with his old coach departing stage money window
