They should put a tape of that fake punt in the College Football Hall of Fame with a plaque underneath that reads: Here is the dumbest play call in college football history that will never be equaled.

I would call it a tie with the Bill Battle fake punt call of 1973 against UGA.

Poorly conceived, poorly designed, poorly executed, incredible failure to recognize bama was ready for it and either check out of it or call timeout.  I absolutely loved it.  If only bama had done something equally stupid, my day would be made.

That was a head scratcher.  As if Kriby was telling his team he already knew they couldn't win, on top of it just being stupid on the surface of it.

My guess is that Jalen might have led them down for a winning FG anyway, but their odds of forcing OT go way up with a punt there.  Definitely one of the dumbest plays of all time, and now Kirby can hear about it for a year.  Or more.

I think that Kirby thought Bama would score if they got the ball back, no matter it they punted or failed on the fake punt. So better to let them score and leave some time rather than have them march down the field and score with no time left.

Does that sound crazy? So was the fake punt.
