Hey. If any of you are looking for any last-minute gift ideas for me, I have one. I'd like Frank Shirley, my boss, right here tonight. I want him brought from his happy holiday slumber over there on Melody Lane with all the other rich people and I want him brought right here...with a big ribbon on his head! And I want to look him straight in the eye, and I want to tell him what a cheap, lying, no-good, rotten, four-flushing, low-life, snake-licking, dirt-eating, inbred, overstuffed, ignorant, blood-sucking, dog-kissing, brainless, d**kless, hopeless, heartless, fat-a$$ed, bug-eyed, stiff-legged, spotty-lipped, worm-headed, sack of monkey shizzle he is! Hallelujah! Holy shizzle! Where's the Tylenol?

I've seen a lot of predictable articles over the last few days questioning whether a show like 24 belongs in today's America. "The guns, the torture, the violence, the jingoism, WHAAAAAA!!!!". As I read, I could literally hear the author's heart bleeding. I hope this season breaks ratings records just to prove people like that wrong. I love high brow TV like Game of Thrones and Mad Men as much as anyone. But sometimes, I just want a watch an American hero like Jack F'ing Bauer kick some ass. If that offends your delicate sensibilities, then tough shizzle. What he said.

Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I can't believe Louisville would consider hiring back Petrino.......

He's lied to and deceived his superiors at every stop of his career. I can't believe he can even get a high school job at this point. What he said. I wish some ESPN (or FOX, I don't care) talking head would come up with some cleverly name category for coaches like Petrino and Kiffin and others who, regardless of ability or history or merit, seem to get top-tier coaching jobs. For lack of a better suggestion, and with admitted bias, I'll make the first suggestion: "Kiffin Klown."

Oh, I definitely think he would've made it eventually, probably even next year. But there have been a lot of great players who didn't get in on the first ballot.
I'm not complaining, I'm glad he made it. Too bad Smoltz hung around for another year after those two retired- it would've been awesome to see all three of those guys go in together. And I think he's definitely a guy who would've benefited from the "coattail effect", because I don't think he'll get in on the first ballot. But with 200+ wins and 150+ saves, he should make it at some point.
Didn't Smoltz come close to winning 30 games one season in the late 1990s? Starter or reliever, he was pretty dominant. Well worth the trade for Doyle Alexander (hindsight is 20/20). I hope he's elected on the first ballot. I'm glad Maddux and Glavine made on the first ballot, although had Glavine been elected on a later ballot it probably wouldn't have been a surprise.
