I started going to St. Louis Cards games in the 50's at Sportsman Park....Grew up with a bat in my hand and grew up in a era that when you weren't playing an organized game you were playing a sandlot game from morning till dark. Some of the worst fights I ever got into were over a safe/out call playing sandlot games
I played in HS and college and lived for the game.

But in the last 15 years or so I just can't get into watching baseball on TV....I still watch my Cards some..every game is shown here in West Tn. and I'll watch about a third of them...There was a day I would have been glued to the TV watching them..

Baseball to me now is boring....changing pitchers for a left hand batter...then changing for a right handed batter...then a middle reliever...then a closer...etc..etc...etc...Good gosh give me the days of Bob Gibson when a pitching coach or manager was too scared to go out to the mound for fear of being cuss out for even thinking about taking a starting pitcher out if he was still battling and still had his team in the game...It drives me fooking crazy!!

And IMO the season is way too long...starts in the Winter with Spring training games and goes to darn near Thanksgiving...Good grief!!

Ooh, yeah.  Forgot about that one.  Great flick.

That's one of those movies that if you come across it channel surfing you watch again....I've seen it several times..but if I were to come across it today I'd watch it again..

There are several movies that I do the same...see em a 100 times but I'll watch again.

The terrain/vegetation here just doesn't support deer numbers like you see in Middle/West TN and the East TN valley. With the exception of the mountains of East TN, the northern Cumberland Plateau is probably the poorest deer area in the state. But the deer numbers do seem to have declined in the BSF, and no one really has a good answer as to why. Some of it again is terrain/vegetation, which is poorer (for deer) in and around the gorge than in other areas of the plateau. But there just aren't as many deer there now as there used to be.

There aren't nearly as many wild boar, either, but we know why that was...the NPS contracted trappers and shooters to take them out. There are very few hogs in the park now.

I've seen more deer here in my area of W. Tn in the last 6 months than I can remember in a long time. They just opened this week a new 2 mile connecter road they build through the woods....really nice 2 mile drive with hills creeks etc...I drove it this morning for the first time and saw no less than 15 deer in that 2 miles....Had to slow down at one point to almost a stop to let 5 cross the road 75 feet in front of me.

I can go within 10 blocks of my house in any direction and see 10-30 every afternoon. Cotton, wheat and corn fields all around me and they come out between 4-6 to feed.

This area I live has all been developed in the last 10-20 years....I had a deer hunter friend of mine tell me that at one time this area I live in had more deer per square mile than any place in Tn. West of the Tennessee river.

Thanks for posting....It seems it has become more and more popular. While a player is shooting a free throw I'm looking more at the signs than the game.

On the note of signs....back in the 70's and even 80's there was a dude that was at sporting events (I think he got started at golf events) that held up a sign with John 3:16 on it. That guy could always find the perfect spot to get his sign on TV. I've always wondered how he could get into so many sporting events all across the country..He could be in San Diego one day and 2 days later be in Miami.

Having lived in Miami and gone to Keys a bunch, wife's family had a place south of St. Augustine and gone to law school in St. Pete and knowing those beaches as well  >>>The best is around SR 30A in Walton County. Not really many condo's just rental houses.  Also check San Destin.  You can thank me later.  Destin is great, water is beautiful but a little more built up.

Yep...Been going to Sand Destin for years....I had a time share for several years when it was just getting developed....Unreal how it has boomed over the last 25-30 years. Actually IMO its over-developed for the beach space they have ownership for.

I lived 15 miles from St. Augustine in the 70's....My favorite beach and town on the Atlantic side.

Great gutsy win!! Just wish we hadn't waited so long to start looking like a BB team. Play like this earlier in the season and we'd be locked into the NCAAs instead of fighting for our BB lives.

I concur with St. Johns....Also Megens Bay in St. Thomas. I've haven't really been to a bad beach in the Caribbean. Okinawa Japan had some very nice beaches too.

Thanks Dad!!! Many moons ago I served many years in the U.S. Navy....I can tell you it was easier to hijack a nuclear aircraft carrier than to finally get registered on this VTTW site!!

I'm truly honored

When I first started going to Destin it was a small fishing town....Boy has times changed. Our kids have been grown and married for several years now so me and the wife go to Destin in October. IMO that's the best time to go.

Another place that's nice and not nearly the crowds durning the tourist season is Mexico Beach which is East of Panama City...Very, very nice.

I have family that lives in Ft. Lauderdale FL and the beaches there are not nearly as good as the Gulf side. I lived in Jacksonville for several years and St. Augustine and I just never cared for the Atlantic side very much....If I had to pick one beach I cared for on the Atlantic side it would be New Smyrna beach.

If you are ever in the Keys go to Sombrero beach in Marathon Key....We've been there several times and IMO it's the best beach in the Keys.
