26  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Worley...Less is MORE on: October 19, 2014, 02:57:44 EDT
I am just about thru with this Worley is the best QB option we have BULLshizzle. He is AGAIN holding the ball way too long, not stepping up to at least try to avoid some pressure and 2 complete horrible throws on the INT's. He has had 4-5 opportunity's to run the ball on the zone read...instead he is going to get Hurd KILLED.
I am just so frustrated watching this same OL BROKEN RECORD over again and again and again.
On a bright point KUDOS TO THE DEFENSIVE BOYS...We might want to turn the TV off now, cause I think this one is going to get real UGLY for the Vols now.

27  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: obvious pass interference on that Uf int... on: October 04, 2014, 10:37:28 EDT
On the throw to North in the end zone and the obvious hold on Pig on the final INT.

28  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Same old thing... on: October 04, 2014, 10:34:57 EDT
Missed opportunities, stupid penalties, .......whatever it is, we will find a way to lose to the Gators.

Unbelievable.

Except it's not.

Agree 100%.  I did not renew my season tickets this year...it's just tough to watch.
Worley had a lot of opportunity to step up past the pressure and run it, or throw it away. The O-Line let him down at times, but he could've done much better too.

29  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Their front 7 is good, but we're going to see better this year... on: September 16, 2014, 03:23:35 EDT
Agree. It's hard for me to believe that any SEC defensive fronts are better than Oklahoma's. Then again, we're going to face some very good SEC defenses, and the prospect of doing so with this offensive line makes me shudder.

After watching many games and teams so far...I agree, our OL could have done better, but HOLY SHIZNIT...no better front seven in college football so far.
Plus these are the same boys that beat the hell out of BAMA in the bowl game.

EXACTLY

31  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Do we see Peterman or Dobbs now?* on: September 01, 2014, 07:19:21 EDT
Ok, now I can definitely see that...only use him if we have no other choice...let him mature and learn a bit more.

32  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Game Report (defense) on: September 01, 2014, 05:14:36 EDT
Overall:  Major upgrade over last year.  Speed and quickness, tackling, cover skills all improved.  There are several current or future stars on the defense.  We saw flashes of a much more agressive defense last night.  Yes we are thin and yes we are, for the most part, very young but this could be a fun defense to watch.  Only two cringe worthy plays and they were back to back.

DL:  The quick DTs, especially Williams were disruptive.  The DEs really contained their QB well, while getting up field to put pressure on him.  Barnett played at least 2/3 of the snaps throuh the 3rd quarter last night.  He is disruptive.  Maggitt showed flashes, as did Vereen and Mixon.  OVerall, played the run surprisingly well. and, as noted, contained the mobile QB.  Still very concerned that teams can line up and shove the ball down our throat (see bamer, see uga) but the DL has improved significantly over last year.

LB:  The strength of the team last night.  Both AJ and Reves-Maybin were all over the field making plays.  Even when not in on the tackle they were forcing the play to others.  Good in the passing game as well.  AJ has stepped up his game.  Reeves-Maybin has the potential to be a star.  Maggitt played well when at LB.  Weartherd played more than I thought he would and he has the potential to be very disruptive.  Bates came in the first time after an injury and his actions in lining up that first play were indicative of a deer-in-the-headlights look but he settled down quickly.

DB:  This just in, Sutton and Randolph are very, very, very good.  They didn't throw at the RS FR but kept throwing towards Sutton, to their dismay.  McNeil played well after getting the start.  Swafford played but wasn't much of a factor.  Coleman at corner is not a good thing (though there was no way, no how that was PI) but their TD pass was the result of bad technique.  TK Jr got significant PT.  Bottom line is they played man well and played zone the best we have played zone in a long while.  Good pursuit and swarmed to the ball.

I agree with this, I was very excited by the DL play the most.  When was the last game where we were able to get consistent pressure on the QB with 4 DL?

33  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Do we see Peterman or Dobbs now?* on: September 01, 2014, 05:11:14 EDT
You've seen him for one half in an impossible situation at Florida, and playing mop up duty where his sole responsibility was to hand the ball off. Interesting that you can make that judgment.

Maybe you can develop your observation skills to be as good as I am one day.

34  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Do we see Peterman or Dobbs now?* on: September 01, 2014, 04:39:44 EDT
Maybe, but either way our backup selection is not very good...Peterman just holds the ball waayyyyy too long on his 1 pass, just like against Florida last year.

35  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Do we see Peterman or Dobbs now?* on: September 01, 2014, 04:33:14 EDT
I was wondering why they put Peterman in over Dobbs.  From what I have seen and even on his 1 completed pass...Peterman is nowhere near an SEC level QB.
I almost turned the TV off when he came into the game.

Yes for me.

38  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Expectations for Team 118..... on: December 11, 2013, 01:56:14 EST
I have looked at the schedule, and it's pretty danged tough, just as this past year's was.

I see 6-6 IF we can hold serve over the teams we are supposed to beat, and if the stars align correctly.  Anything better and Jones would be worthy of coach of the year consideration.

This is a very good class coming in, but they are true freshmen and many of them just aren't going to be ready to contribute yet.  It's going to take 3 classes of blue chip types before UT is ready to ascend towards the upper half of the SEC standings.

I agree mostly, but we should, and must get 6 wins next year, possibly a lucky 7th win...or it will start to get rocky and uneasy..... a bowl game is a must next year...we should be able to get 6 wins over UTAH STATE, ARKANSAS STATE, UTC, FLORIDA, KENTUCKY, AND VANDERBILT...

40  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Bowl Mania on: December 09, 2013, 11:16:12 EST
Are we going to have a VTTW page to play on this season??

41  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: USA soccer fans on: December 07, 2013, 12:37:10 EST
not so fast....we can beat Ghana, draw/beat Portugal...as long as we just stop Ronaldo = advance to the knockout stage.  I am optimistic about our chances to advance.  The experts have us at 39% chance/Portugal a 40% chance to advance.

Horrible....should definitely start looking for a new coach now...Hell RE-HIRE PEARL...HE PAID HIS DEBT at this point, and we suck something awful.

45  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Personal observations... on: November 25, 2013, 11:17:31 EST
Palardy had to be injured somehow otherwise he makes that kick. Pig had a brain fart, players are coached not to touch them if you see the backs of their jersey's.
Vandy owned Tennessee's O-line and d-line in the first quarter. When the Vols lined up in the I formation each time they got stuffed by a much smaller defensive line, this boils down to want to and determination.
I do have a problem with the play calling. Tennessee simply did nothing to stretch the field Saturday, NOTHING! Blame that on the loss of North all you want but I'm not buying it. There are others that can get deep.
Bottom line is the Vols should have won that game missing a chip shot FG and a TD called back.
I hope I'm wrong, but I think they struggle against Kentucky.

Addendum: IMHO Dobbs has regressed since his debut.
Can't argue with this...just really down on UT football right now.

46  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: The losing mindset-- these are uncharted waters for Butch on: November 25, 2013, 11:15:07 EST
Except that Vanderbilt is not a more talented team than Tennessee at this point.
That's what I have a huge problem handling at this point.

Where is that post by Hollerboy, about the being on the ledge, I was talking some down off of it, NOW I'M OUT ON IT TOO.....

48  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: Our "bowl" game will be... on: November 24, 2013, 03:57:42 EST
Maybe Neal, and Lane......been the last 2 times we have played in Lexington, those are the 2 coldest football games I have ever sat through.  I'm done with this season.  I have never said and felt this way about Tennessee Football before.

49  Sports / VTTW Message Board / Re: I have a very specific criticism of the defensive scheme on: November 24, 2013, 03:54:22 EST
Vandy ran a WR screen about 15 times, and it was good for 4-8 yards every time. What is with that? Why are we so weak against that play, and why wasn't an adjustment made before this game (that has been a weekness for weeks, I feel).

We tried to run a very similar play with Pig several times, and it never worked. Is it just a matter of the other WR for them blocking and our guy can't, or is it defensive scheme?

My biggest problem with this is how much space we kept giving their WR all night...this play was really easy for them to run with a 5-10 yard cushion given all night.  Second is we really made no adjustment to stop it, I would like to know why we don't bring both DB's and play tight coverage sometimes(when they ran a bubble screen off of a 2 WR set)?  I mean at least try to switch things up occasionally.
I definitely have some concern in the pit of my stomach with some things done by our coordinators.

To be totally honest, the way I feel right now I couldn't care less what happens vs. UK.  I'm ready for this dreadful season to be over.

Agree 100%.  I am just so sick and tired of having another losing football season...4 in a row.  I will not watch the UK game, at this point I just don't give a DAMN if they win or lose it.    No one on the offensive side of the ball played with any desire, passion, or fire...was sad to see IMHO.
