Would’ve preferred 3:30. Other than being a “traditional rivalry”, I’m not sure what makes AU/UGA so attractive this year. :dunno:

3 TD margin for the pups, minimum

You could argue that the two best on-field matchups are both at noon that day. Bammer/A&M is only in prime time because of off-field stuff. Both CBS games are going to be beatdown snoozefests. :frown:

Glad we aren't playing them at night...And maybe at 11am Central the coon-dogs will still be asleep.

fizzle CBS.  I'd rather have the shizzletiest of the shizzlety ESPN "announcers" than that Danielson fizzle.

Danielson is so bad that he's making Brad Nessler bad. And Nessler is one of the best in the business.

I've never been a Danielson fan and have never understood why so many hold him up as one of the best color commentators on TV.

Well, I’m talking in terms of attending the game. If I were just watching on TV, I probably wouldn’t care as much.

Once again I am the contrarian.  I like Danielson.  I think his problem is, he says it like it is and it rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Example...on the throw in the early 2nd quarter where it looked like AR was over the line, Danielson said he was over the line.  Then on the first replay, he changed his mind. I was instantly pissed at Danielson, because at first take it simply didn't look possible for AR to not be over the line.  But as I watched the replays, Danielson was 100% correct. I got over being pissed at him, because, you know, he was right.

He also says very knowledgable things about football that go beyond most color guys IMO.  He should know, he was an NFL QB for about 9 seasons, 7 of them with the same team and 2 as a backup with other teams.

I get that maybe some people don't like his manner and just think he's a d-bag.  Well and fine.

But to my point, if you do dislike him, please point out any error that he has ever made that would tend to make you dislike him. My experience is that there are few to none, and that's all I really care about.

I'd rather have a guy that knows what he is talking about and his "bedside manner" can be damned.  Unlike Joe Buck, who got his job because of who his "diddy" was and never, I repeat, NEVER EVER says anything of substance, at all, whatsoever The blandest boringest guy in the bidness. Just awfule.  Or Phil Simms, who constantly states really obvious things as if everyone listening is a football idiot (my favorite Phil Simms phrase is "the reason you blitz is to sack the quarterback!!!!!!", and yes the exclamation points were there.  :dielaughing: :dielaughing:

Okay so...if you guys don't mind humoring me, what specifically don't you like about Danielson?  If its errors in making the calls, please provide examples. If its just that he irritates you, then why specifically?

I am truly just curious...I don't understand why everyone hates him.

He was calling the fizzleing game like he worked for the the fizzleing Gator Radio Network.  It was driving me so insane I tuned in Blob.  That's saying a fizzleing lot.  Danielson is too fizzleing opinionated and he just keeps beating the dead horse with his fizzlehead opinions.  Kinda like that huge #badword# Tim McCarver.  I fizzleing HATE McCarver and that Danielson F*U*C*K is a carbon copy.  Yeah they know a lot and they like to let everyone listening know that as well.  Just comment on the fizzleing game.  Be fizzleing objective.  Add to the color and atmosphere.  Throw in some pro insight... but....Don't try to sell me EVERY fizzleING WEEK ON HOW fizzleING SMART YOU ARE.  GOOD GOD IF anyone deserves a curb stomping it is Gary and Tim.

Creek is right on - Nessler is one of the best if not THE best and the stink of shizzlehead, douchbag Gary makes Brad look bad.

I think it is just that UT has sucked since Danielson has been doing SEC games. Not much good to say about our play in the 3:30pm slot most of the time. I guess he may have called a win over uga or two, and 2016 over Florida. All the rest (and they were few) were bad losses.

Rewatched the game today and I couldn’t believe how bad that duo has gotten.

So odd what they fixate in at times.

I get that.  He didn't seem in the least pro Florida to me though. Not at all. He praised UT several times actually.

I think maybe he just hasn't had much good to say about the Vols since we have mostly sucked for his entire tenure.

I'll listen again to see if I spot any "bias".

I do respect that you have a strong opinion though.   :dielaughing:

Sorry but I just don't see any bias though.  Like I said, if you and others feel that strongly about, it may be worth listening for.

Try this: On 10/15, since our game will almost surely be the CBS game, pay attention to Danielson. See how many times he references the Alabama coach as simply "Nick" as opposed to "Saban." That's just one drop in a sea of examples, but it's enough to make him slimy. He's supposed to be a neutral observer, which means not acting like you're on a first-name basis with a coach, even if you are. He's up Kirby Smart's rearend the same way. It's like he's a professional commentator suffering from hero worship.

Secondly, Gary is just so freaking grating. You're right that I (and many others) just don't like what he says. However, it's not just because he's speaking truth to us lowly viewers who've never played college football and need to be graced with his knowledge. It's his smarmy, know-it-all attitude. He literally never shuts up. Sometimes he should just stop talking.

I really miss the days of Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried on ESPN games. IMO, they were hands down the best college football broadcasting duo that ESPN has ever employed. Sorta like Brad Nessler and Jimmy Dykes on the basketball side. And, speaking of Dykes, he is a guy who is very knowledgeable about the game, shares his knowledge, and doesn't come across as a pompous jerk when he does it. Nor does he ever allow his bias to show. Danielson could learn a lot from him.

I could see where he comes across this way, but does not to me. Mostly because he actually knows what he is talking about, unlike a lot of announcers.

I liked Franklin and Gottfried also. And Jimmy Sykes, although I actually find that segment he does at the start of the game walking the court a bit annoying.  Danielson may well come across as pompous to some, he does not to me, but that's a subjective thing so I get that he could seem that way. I still don't see the 'bias' part though.  But I will keep an eye out for it!   :naughty:

Because if he's referencing them as "Nick" and "Kirby," he's giving his bias away without even trying. I have been on point for the broadcasts of a couple of high school games my daughter has been involved in. It's weird as heck to hear myself referencing her by her last name instead of her first name, but if I'm doing play-by-play and she's in the game, she is just another player; not my daughter. Likewise, even if Danielson is friends with Saban and Smart, they shouldn't be his friends when the broadcast starts. They're just another coach. But because Danielson is an egomaniac, he has to make sure the rest of us know that he's on a first name basis with "Nick" and "Kirby."

Nessler really seems to me to be slipping. Which is strange; he isn't that old (66).

I thought I heard him refer to Heupel as Josh. Could be wrong  :dunno: This thread reminds me of listening to KY fans slice, dice, and dissect whomever is calling their basketball game. Sometimes announcers say things we don't like. Sometimes they heap praise on our team. If we are getting beat 45-14 by Alabama or Georgia, they will be raving about the winning team. Duh!
