Found out today that I'll be in Vegas next month for a I.T. conference.  I've never been, so what are your favorites hotspots (attractions, restaurants, etc.)?

I'll likely stay close to the strip, as my accommodations will be at the MGM Grand and the sessions run all day.  Looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

What's the point in going to Vegas if your conscience is gonna tag along? I thought you were supposed to leave Conscience at McCarran?

Restaurants

Every Hotel on the strip will have a great restaurant in it.  Some of them will be pricey but the Venetian has some of the best ones as well as the Bellagio.  Also there is a great steak place down in "the old part of downtown" Fremont Street area.

If you want to gamble go down to Fremont Street area and you will be able to play blackjack and/or craps for a little bit of money.

Hoover Dam - pretty cool! Have a meal at Margaritaville at the flamingo and get a hat. Run down Flamingo Blvd a couple of miles and have breakfast at Blueberry Hill. Get the corned beef hash! House-made and the best you ever have.

Enjoy!

Was there in December in 2011 and it was great fun to be there....we were flying back to Knoxville on Monday and had to be at the airport at 4:30 AM so we just stayed up the whole night.

The server outfits at Paris were nice the last time was there. Blackjack tables were nice there; I played 3 days and broke even, So I won in Vegas.

Ride the gondolas in The Venetian if you have a short wait. Fremont Street is a look back at old Glitter Vegas. Walk thru The Luxor.

Ya' know, I think if you stay out of a Harrah's run place you are up 50% for starters! Was out there in '09, stayed 4 days and dropped about $3k all on their guest cards for the gambling. Check-out....."oh, you have a $3 credit". Tossed the guest card on the table and told 'em to keep their $3!

Harrah's are the tightest run places! Not saying they aren't nice, but you will get creamed in their casinos. If you want to play, go play local. Try Bill's. The glitz is there for you to bring your money in. Understandably, you know Sevier County is where people come and leave their money. Think of Vegas on a grand scale. Drive through a desert if you have never done so. Go eat well. If you are a wiz at certain gaming, take it to your budget's content. I've won at Trump's New Jersey and other's in Atlantic City (the old PlayboyClub was good), but the whole atmosphere has changed and they'll take your nuts.

Earlier post was an attempt to get you in and out of Vegas with your wallet intact. If you have play money, play and enjoy. I did that and was left missing $3k. Best of luck and always assume the dealer has 10 in the hold.
