Title: Bruce Pearl...
Post by: tshadow on February 29, 2024, 07:22:38 EST
...They asked him to love on Tennessee again. And he does. I'm fine with that. Who knows after he retires... he may actually get VFL status. I guess if you are a rival you call it respect. He's right about one thing... they have no reason to be embarrassed about their performance. 84 points most times means you won the game. I have a lot of respect for Bruce Pearl. It isn't exactly like he was corrupt. He fed a couple of kids some hamburgers... big friggen deal. Good luck to him except when he plays us.

I think he was corrupt. I have heard of major issues with him at UT from a source that was able to prove it (my source told me where each player on the team that transferred would go weeks before it was announced publicly).   I won't say publicly what I heard, but when the issue arose at Auburn that got blamed on an assistant coach and swept under the rug otherwise, I was not surprised at all.

I suspect one reason the university fired him as quickly as they did is because they knew about the other stuff.

My response? Rumor does not equal guilt. But, my post is not about defending him. He's a hell of a coach. I would argue that point with anyone. I feel like we won a heck of a game. We won a game and most of the credit is not being given to the refs.

So conflicted on Bruce. I still like the guy, and I think he got a raw deal from our admin and the NCAA. But at the same time, I want to beat him more than any other coach on our schedule. Maybe it?s because I live here.  :dunno:

His teams will always be limited by his offensive coaching style
I screamed about it when we lost in the finals of the SECT in Tampa back then
Then I saw it again lst night

Pass the ball around till little time on hte clock and then pass it down to (Broome in this case, Tyler Smith in 2009 and pray he scores)

As an aside, it seems that the only thing Steven is good for is screaming at the refs, no actual coaching was observed last night

Nightmare flashbacks to the offense you mention, PARTICULARLY frustrating when it often (seemingly ALWAYS) occured at the end of games.

As for Steven, he was definitely worthless as a player, so his lack of coaching acumen does not surprise me.  Nepotism!  It's never good, just ask the owner of the Cleveland Browns.   :naughty: :powert:
