While I always say that wine is for drinking and not investing, I don't know if I would drink that one. First of all, the value of an old wine like that is in the history and as a museum type piece. After you open it, the value might be a whole lot less. Secondly, I'm not sure that the quality of a 200 year old wine is going to be very good. I'd keep it in the display case.

Yeah 117G for a bottle of vinegar is pretty steep

One night when I was in high school I went to a friend's house for a little get together. His family was fairly well off. They had a nice house with a wine cellar that was actually dug into the ground below the house. You entered through a door in the hall of the house and walked down into a rocky cellar with a few shelves.

We drank a couple of bottles and were getting buzzed when he brought out a bottle and said "Let's drink this". The bottle was obviously very old and had no label. But painted on the bottle was "Th. Jefferson". Even in my stupor I realized that it was something that we shouldn't open and common sense prevailed. I don't know if was real or not. There have been documented cases of fraud concerning his wines. But it looked the part.

Hmmph ... <snif> ... [struts away, nose upturned]...  Wouldn't touch it -- label looks damaged!   :toothless:
