I am looking to book a hotel in dec in Nashville downtown close to the nashville convention ctr. What would be the best choice in terms of price/walking proximity combo?

I am no longer a Nashvillian, but the Renaissance is the most convenient. The Hilton is the newest to my knowledge, and the Hermitage is by far the nicest.

The Hermitage Hotel is about a mile away and I'm pretty sure there is a Courtyard pretty close.

I work on 4th and Commerce (one block from the current convention center).  The Renaissance is connected to the convention center.  The courtyard on 4th and Church is 2.5 blocks away from the convention center.  The Hermitage is about 5 blocks from the convention center.  The homestead is about the same (5-6 blocks away).  There is a double tree that is about 7 blocks away.  The Hilton is my choice.  It forces you to cross broadway (honky tonk drive) to get to the convention center.  It is only 2.5 blocks away.   I hope this helps.
