loved the original hope it measures up

I was appalled when they remade total recall but once I realized it was closer to the original story I was ok with it.  the original total recall still much much better tho

I read yesterday that they're doing a remake of Poltergeist.  Seeing as pretty much everyone in the original except Craig T Nelson died of unnatural causes, I'm surprised they can find enough talent to fill the entire cast.

Maybe this time it will actually get an R rating.  The original still scares me to death.  Hard to believe that it got the same PG rating as freaking Shrek.

I think I was like 9 when it came out.  But I saw it again recently, and while it didn't give nightmares like it did back then, it's still pretty strong stuff for a PG movie.  If it were released today, I don't think it even would have gotten a PG-13- it would be an R all the way.

Total Recall was based on a science fiction story by Phillip K Dick.

The remake was supposedly much closer to the 1966 story, or so I read in a blog last year.  However, googling the original story, it sounds like it wasn't quite similar to either, and did involve Mars.

But what I am saying is that the remake was so different from the original movie that I could enjoy it in it's own right, as a totally different story.

Likely the publicist for the remake spread disinformation that it was closer to the original story to lessen the sting of it sucking compared to the original movie.
