I would rather lose by 10 or more than lose the way UT lost to Florida yesterday. What makes it worse is Florida has now won 11 straight and 24 out of the last 30 meetings. They have 1 guaranteed win a year and that is UT. I hate losing to the same team year after year.

I will always love the Vols but these losses are getting old.

2009 Bama. UT getting ready to kick game winning field goal but it gets blocked.

2010. LSU and North Carolina.

2012 Florida game on ESPN.  Losing to South Carolina when Bray fumbles. Blowing a 28-7 lead on Missouri

2013. Losing to UGA when Pig Howard fumbles in End Zone. Losing to Vandy after call was reversed.

2014.  Georgia game was bad. Florida was gut wrenching.

2015.  Oklahoma wins while UT Blows a 17-0 lead in 2nd half.

Rick Barnes led Texas to 16 NCAA tourney appearances while he was there. Texas isn't known for Basketball. They are a football school like Tennessee. I have no problem with UT hiring him. He can stay 5 or 6 years and stable like the program. After that some great young coach may want to come here.

Awesome win. Donnie Tyndall is the man. Will be angry if NCAA makes UT fire Tyndall. Especially with the crap Frank Haith did. Also with the stuff that went on at UNC. The NCAA picks and chooses their punishments.

Not Herb but SD will whip Campbell County's butt. Too much speed. I believe the 5A team that makes it to Cookeville will be decided when SD plays Knox West next week. I know Oak Ridge and Ooltewah will be tough also.

I was at the 1989 game at bammer when Andy Kelley came in for Sterling Henton.  We lost big, but it was a turning point for our program.  We won or tied like 10-12 in a row from that point, and that 1989 season was really the beginning of our rise to national prominence in the 90s.

Just saying we might indeed point back to bammer 2014 (and this game) as a turning point.   

I think the turning point was the UCLA game earlier that year.

The one sure thing is no one in 4A will come close to beating Fulton. Fulton may be the best team in Tennessee.  Maryville has another great team but they will have to get through Blackman or Oakland. Alcoa isn't quite as good as they have been but they will probably play CPA in the championship. If CPA is wanting to beat Alcoa they better do it this year. Alcoa has a young team and their younger classes are loaded forbear.

Yep....That was Alan Welch our fullback, linebacker and kicker. He scored all 13 points that night. I was on the staff at Humboldt for many years.

There is a guy whose son played on my nephews travel baseball team in Franklin TN. This guy was on that staff at Humboldt. This guy was the Franklin head coach. Can't remember his name.

most wanting to see? Get competitive in recruiting again and coach the players up....we're getting players and there was huge improvement IMO from last year to this. Just how depleted our roster was when Butch took over due to Dooley's complete incompetence simply CANNOT be overly emphasized....you just don't snap back after 18 months from the kind of set back Dooley dealt us and expect to compete with the top tier of the SEC. Butch has the ship turning and we'll get there everyone just has to be realistic about the time and effort it will take.

I was coaching on a staff that beat Maryville in the state championship game in 1979. Heck, I don't think they've lost a championship game they've played in since?

I was on that Maryville team that lost to Humboldt 13-10. Humboldt kicked a field goal that just barely got through to win that game.


Maryville lost in the state title games in 1977'1979'1997'2008'2009 and 2012.

I guarantee you if UT goes for it on 4th down and gets stuffed fans would be complaining about that. Right now in my opinion Butch still has a free pass. He walked into a huge mess created by Mike Hamilton'Lane Kiffin and Derek Dooley. Dooley was idiotic for signing no offensive linemen in the 2012 class. The best players in the state was leaving like crazy. If Dooley would have stayed another year Jalen Hurd'Todd Kelly JR and Josh Malone would be playing somewhere else.  Now if in 2 to 3 years UT is still a 5-6 team then maybe UT should go another route.

If being a Butch Jones supporter makes me a sheep then I guess I am a sheep. Butch Jones inherited a huge mess. He needs time to turn it around.  With the recruiting class in 2014 helping the Vols out this year and the 2015 lass looking strong I think the program is on the right track.

I say we fire Butch Jones now. I think UT should hire all these Internet coaches and watch the National Titles roll in.

Maryville has one of the best coaching staffs in America. Never seen a coaching staff that gets the most out of kids. I saw Maryville win titles with 170lbs linemen.i saw Maryville win with 3 starting linebackers 5'7 and 150lbs. Every now and then Maryville will have a Aaron Douglas,PattonRobinette or Dylan Jackson but The Program is built on hard working overachieving kids who take to coaching.
