Title: Great Performances: Drums Post by: Black Diamond Vol on July 24, 2013, 05:18:38 EDT Rush is one of those bands that I don't particularly enjoy listening to. It's probably due to Geddy Lee's "nails on a chalkboard" vocals. But there's no denying their instrumental greatness. When you have two guys who can make a strong argument at being the best ever on their respective instruments, that's pretty strong. Here's Neil Peart on Letterman (Skip past all the introductory crap. The action begins around 3:00). And yes, you'll see him again (with the band this time) when Geddy is featured in the bass post.
http://www.youtube.com/v/meJ55HPJ3xs The Dave Matthews band has kind of become a caricature of themselves over the years, but Carter Beauford remains one of the best in the business. http://www.youtube.com/v/E2zpoIlEasY Forget hip-hop. If you have a bitchin' stereo with a huge subwoofer, there's no better way to show it off than to crank up Metallica and Lars' signature double-bass. http://www.youtube.com/v/NbhEUAmnjlw Title: Re: Great Performances: Drums Post by: VinnieVOL on July 24, 2013, 05:35:49 EDT (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Q6NEQ-sWqdc/TvBr2gvjTLI/AAAAAAAACEM/0R7mfWlG9G4/s1600/album_pic2.jpg)

G Title: Re: Great Performances: Drums Post by: VinnieVOL on July 24, 2013, 08:32:42 EDT Being the oldest member of the band, did you realize Peter was playing in bands starting in 1958! (That's a good 5-6 years before America was transformed by the Fab Four!) He's from a big band/swing/jazz club scene (Gene Krupa) and his style always added a different groove to the Kiss sound. Paradoxically this has, in a way, always alienated him from a segment of the hard rock crowd.

He is from the old, old school of drumming...Hell of a drummer no doubt......You just can't put in in the ring with heavyweights. His predecessor, Mr. Caravello......That's another story!!!!
