I think Burnett and Mayo were both better players than either Raynoch or EMo... but the strength of the '98 group was having three NFL caliber linebackers on the field at the same time. Same thing with EB... EB was better than anybody in the '98 defensive backfield... but the strength of that group was having a NFL caliber shutdown corner in Goodrich on the field at the same time with an NFL caliber safety in Grant who could take away half the field. EB only had that his last year with Janzen and Janzen was a frosh. He was drafted by Dallas in 2005, went to SD, and is currently on Miami's roster. I don't think you stay in the NFL that long without either elite talent or elite work ethic. He's obviously not had the impact in the NFL that Mayo has had, though.

Many times he was a one man wrecking crew. He singlehandedly beat Vandy one year. The rest of the team around him sucked. |
