This is more than balanced by their running game being 20th. But of course what is really impressive is their D and they allow the 8th-fewest points in the NCAA at 12.5.
What really matters is the score though. Through 6 games, here is their schedule: Oregon* W 40-27 1-0 Northwestern State W 49-3 2-0 Mississippi State W 19-6 3-0 West Virginia W 47-21 4-0 Kentucky W 35-7 5-0 Florida W 41-11 6-0 The impressive wins here are Oregon and West Virginia. Throw Kentucky and Northewestern State away, those are meaningless. That leaves a lackluster win over MSU and a blowout over UF that is also meaningless due to UF not having a QB. Two big wins over non-conference opponents...well that is impressive, but not so much as I thought on closer inspection. |
